It is with overwhelming sadness that Baynes Travel turned off its engines for the last time yesterday. Nigel returned to Allendale aged 21 to take over the business when his dad, Denis died. For the past 43 years Nigel has lived and breathed the business growing it into something that would have made Denis mightily proud.
To everyone who has been on that journey with him over the years; staff, customers, friends and family, we thank you for your loyalty, love and support and wish you all well.

We are very disappointed to announce that we are cancelling our August Tours Programme. Most historic houses, along with tearooms and toilets, are still closed, and facilities in towns and villages are very much reduced, such that it becomes impossible to be confident of running a trip successfully. We still live in hope for later in the season!

Sorry to disappoint, but due to the uncertainties over café and toilet facilities, and the fact that none of the historic houses we’d planned to visit have opening dates as yet, we are still unable to run any trips we had planned for July. We are monitoring the situation for August, and trying to be hopeful!

Unfortunately we have had to cancel all Baynes day excursions for the time-being due to the awful COVID-19 pandemic. No-one really knows how things will progress at this stage over the coming weeks and it may be possible that perhaps the programme will be able to recommence in the late summer. In the meantime anyone who has booked onto one of our early season tours can either transfer onto a trip later in the season or request a full refund.
We hope for the safety of everyone in the community and if we at Baynes Travel can provide any assistance in these worrying times we are keeping the office manned . If you know of anyone who needs help, or who is isolated and vulnerable, then please call us and we will help in any way that we can.
