Day 5. The climb was rewarded as the vineyard of revealed itself between the mountain and the sea. Here you can enjoy a private tour of the vines with the w**emaker and a tasting of eight w**es including different expressions of Vermentino and Cannonau served alongside one of Cinzia Long's legendary picnics. One of the highlights of the trip.

Day 4 ended with a trip to the deep copper sulphate blue source and a meal of Sardinian specialities back at the Agriturismo Canales including a baked honey and cheese tart and a soup famed for longevity! The next morning everyone bid farewell to the beautifully tranquil spot as we headed for the coast. En route was a stop at the wetlands area, wild and windy with the added treat of watching flamingos in the lagoon. A light lunch and on to Palau. A chance to explore the marina, shops and beaches before an evening aperitivo and antipasti.

Day 4. Glorious hike with wonderful local guide Tore, guiding the group through the terrain, stopping to explain the flora as he went and setting the scene for the shepherd's way of life. There was a visit to a shepherd's hut and then the ascent to explore the rock formations and impressive caves at Grotta di sa Oche. This circular route took us back to the start and on to the next stop the ' porceddu' Shepherd's Lunch ...to be continued Tore - Hiking Guide Trekking🍀

Leaving Bosa, first stop was a vineyard visit to see where the w**e is made. Then a trip to the charming town of Mamoiada to visit the quite mythical mask museum and rejoin Vincenza the Teularju w**emaker for a tasting and lunch and 10 w**es to taste from a natural unfiltered fizz to a deep rose and then multiple exciting expressions of the Cannonau w**e (Grenache). This was accompanied by words from the maker and James's expert take on how ro get the most from w**e tasting. A wonderful lunch. Then on to our , rest and dinner by the coast. Day 3 - the start of the mountains!

Day 2. A walk out of Bosa, uphill to see the castle. Then a return to the town for a special w**e tasting of Malvasia di Bosa, small production using oxidative aging to produce a truly unique w**e. Then you are whisked off to a tranquil spot in the countryside for a legendary Cinzia Long picnic.The rest of the day is spent exploring Bosa, before a superb dinner at a traditional small restaurant near the hotel. The menu is carefully chosen to focus on local seasonal seafood in particular squid, bottarga and large prawns, cooked in a variety of ways. James ensures the w**e reflects the best Sardegna has to offer.

End of Day one. After visiting the ancient Nuraghi settlements, taking in a light lunch, we arrive a little further south on the west coast. A charming hotel restaurant, hidden away in the maze of tiny alleys in the old town, is the base for two nights. Locanda di Corte - Ristorante | Albergo Bosa

First morning of the Sardinian guided tour, we take you out on a boat trip to the Neptune Caves. A beautiful way to look back at Alghero and the explore the awesome limestone caves.
