Questions to ask your venue - Sound Limits

Many venues have a limit to the sound which can be measured away from the venue as part of their licensing rules and in some instance they have to regulate this quite hard to protect their license and their ability to trade.
It is important to understand this when selecting your venue and make sure that you and your guests aren't left with any nasty surprises if the party gets too loud.
Venues may use many different systems to help to mitigate any sound based license conditions;
One of the oldest systems which is still in use is an electronic system which shuts off the power if the party gets too loud. It is important to realise when these systems are encountered that they monitor the room volume as a whole and not just the volume of the band or disco, so if your guests are shouting and having a great time then this can also effect the system. When the power goes off, it can take some time to reset which can put a damper on the evening.
Some venues use a "Sound ceiling" or a similar limited system which can be limited by the staff at the venue. These are more adaptable systems, but it is important that a qualified user is in place for the party or the limit may be unusable.
There are many other types of limiting system with too many to go into a vast detail here, but it is important to know from your venue if they have a system in place and what realistic levels is it set to. If in doubt, get advise from other people who have been to parties at the venue or even from your DJ or band as they may recognise the venue in question.
Remember, limiting systems are not the enemy to having a great party as long as you are well informed and can make an informed choice.

Planning a wedding - The Playlist

Your wedding is your day. You should have everything that you want done exactly as you want it for your perfect day, Right?

Whilst that can certainly be true about many things, ask yourself this question - Is having the perfect end to your day more about your own personal musical tastes or is it more about sharing the moment with all of your guests partying to a mixed soundtrack which everyone can enjoy?

That's not to say that you can't put your own musical stamp on the party, but imagine if your favourite style of music was quite hardcore and your relatives wanted a selection of older music and some pop and party music to dance to which wasn't happening - Your guests may want to leave earlier than they otherwise might do as they might not have a great night. Now imagine that a selection of songs kept them engaged throughout the night - They would be happy to stay and listen to your favourites too.

Services that we offer explained - Smoke/Haze
Luv2 Disco offer haze to enhance the lighting on all of our packages - This always has to be subject to venue approval as many venues have smoke detectors linked to their fire alarm systems.
Haze is a lighter type of smoke which means that the beams of light produced by the effects lighting we use can be seen all along the beam and not just on the floor or wall where they project (a little like a laser type of effect). Many traditional smoke machines only give a similar effect when the smoke is at it's heaviest which can cause discomfort for some people.
We also offer a Low Smoke effect as an addon for weddings in particular where the Happy couple can dance their first dance as if they were dancing on clouds - Once again, this is subject to the venue permitting the use of smoke and it not interfering with their fire alarm system.

It's getting closer!! Just 3 days to go...who's coming? The weekend is looking AMAZING, and has taken months to organise. A small team of volunteers has managed to pull together a really wonderful weekend of entertainment.

Saturday sees some great local bands playing all afternoon and evening after the farmers market in the morning and then Sunday sees the whole town transform with market stalls, loads of free kids entertainment, the canal traders and performances from groups as well.
