Small Moments...

It's easy to get caught up looking for and remembering the big life Moments, Weddings, new baby milestone birthday, a trip of a lifetime etc. But life isn't made up of big moments but lots and lots of small ones.

✨ The ever so tatty but favourite cuddly toy that never left their side but got increasingly grubby and worn with every new adventure.

✨ The innocence and magic of discovering a new creature or flower for the first time.

✨ Afternoons baking and a "stolen" lipstick, each moment easily overlooked and forgotten about but when captured brings back a memory and it's moment of magic.

These are the moments I like to focus on, the small everyday ones so often overlooked but in reality are the most important because they are real life and if that's not worth remembering I don't know what is!

I love creating books big or small filled with these "simple" moments knowing that they will always bring back the fondest memories...

How it feels...

I believe that how something feels is as important as how something looks. The feeling you have when you hold something that that has been lovingly crafted using beautiful tactical materials is miles apart from the ones you get when holding something machine made and mass produced.

From tactile art papers, textured linen covers, and vegan leather pouches, to the frayed edge ribbons and delicate tissue paper that I use to wrap your parcels all become part of the experience.

Individually they are little things but together they really do make a huge difference.

These little details are so important to me but definitely the hardest to convey over a digital platform. these are small maybe insignificant things but together they make a huge difference

helping you to relive those precious memories..

Boo!

So just incase you missed my little announcement last week I finally took the plunge and launched my sister site www.emilydanielphotogtraphy.co.uk Photography is something that has always been close to my heart but for whatever reason I struggled with the title photographer. Recent life events however meant that there felt no point in hiding something that was obviously a big part of me so here we go... 🤞🏻

Everything shall be continuing with Journeys Bound as usual I just now have an additional way to grow and support it. You can find "the other me" on instagram

Thanks for all the support and kind messages it means so much E x.

After much deliberation and second guessing I've finally pressed the "go button" on my family photography website. Those of you who know me well will know that this is something that I've been toying with for years but for one reason or another I've always managed to talk myself out of it. However if the last few months have taught me anything it's that life is just too damn short not to do something you really love. So here it is

https://www.emilydanielphotography.co.uk

I'd love to know your thoughts and as this (hopefully) grows I will really appreciate any support/shares/likes that you give.

Thank you Emily x

Simple...

I'm currently working on something that I'm really excited - as well as a little nervous - about which I will be sharing with you very soon. 🤞🏻

But working on that and looking at my business from a slightly different angle has really brought home just how important the small simple things are to me which so often get overlooked in our ever increasingly busy lives. Especially now as lockdowns are being lifted and life is albeit bumpily being returned to normal.

So I just wanted to send out a little message as a reminder to enjoy the little things in life because one day they really will be the only things that matter..

Keeping it simple...

I've been a bit quiet on here recently, mostly because I've just been a bit busy; busy with trying to get your Father's Day orders out and all of that business admin, busy with Family and life commitments busy trying to work out why my Instagram reach has suddenly dropped off a cliff! 😩

But also because I've spent a bit of time looking at all the different elements of my business what I like and want to do more of and equally what I don't and how I can I do more of the things people are asking for.

So there will be a few changes coming up. At the moment I'm still undecided just how big those changes will be, but I do know that they will be focusing on the core reason I set up Journeys Bound and that was to really celebrate the simple but ultimately the most important things in life... E x

For stories worth retelling for generations to come...

It's been an emotionally charged week for me putting together all of your Father's Day books. But as hard as it's been it's also been wonderful to see so many precious memories being turned into something I know will be treasured and bring joy to those who receive them 💞.

So I may be a little quiet on here for a bit but don't worry I've not gone anywhere!

A lifetime of treasured memories...

Don't risk losing your precious memories by never doing anything with them. I can't tell you the amount of conversations where someone has told me their own horror story of how they have lost their baby/wedding/travel photographs because they were left on a phone/camera/DVD/hard drive, and never backed up properly!

Ensuring your precious photos are backed up is essential but to be able to really enjoy and treasure them you need to do something more meaningful. Which is where I come in. I will help you turn your cherished memories into a lifelong keep sake or heirloom.

If you'd like to know more about the different ways I can help you do this then head over to my website or send me a DM and I can get creating! E x

Melt Dad's heart this Father's Day...

With just one week to go for all Father's Day orders (Friday 4th June!) here are my favourite themes for books filled with sentiment and nostalgia guaranteed to bring a tear to his eye.

1) Perfect for older Father's - Take your Dad on a trip down memory lane with pictures of them when they were small to what their life now looks like today.

2) Perfect for New Father's - How magical to have a tiny book of their very first days of being a father. A tiny book filled with tiny hands and tiny feet and the biggest of memories,. What could possibly be better than that?

3) One from the children - Why not get the little ones involved by asking them to pick out their favourite photos of Dad? The results may surprise you and they will feel so proud that they helped create something really special.

4) Reasons why... - I love creating these books I really get to see a sense of who they are, why they are so special and ultimately why you love them so much.

5) Because you miss them - A very personal one for me this year, so you may be creating this for yourself as a way of remembering the precious times you spent together or maybe you've not been able to spend as much time together as you would have liked. Either way it's a wonderful way to look back at your happy times together.

As always if you have any questions do just ask! E x

Happy Monday!

After Friday's mammoth post I'm going to keep this one short and sweet (ish this is me after all!) with a simple reminder to really appreciate what and most importantly who you have.

It's easy to get caught up in the never ending "to-do's" and "should have's" when often everything we need is right in front of us!

Also I wanted to let you know that I am working an email I shall be sending out later in the week which will give you some ideas for thoughtful Father's Day books. Just incase you are struggling to find the right images or wanted a little help, so don't forget to sign up if you haven't already!

That's it see I said it would be short!! E x

A Little Confession...
..I am a total self confessed photo nerd. 🤓

I love them, I love taking them editing them and most of all looking at them.

I love the magic they hold in being able to transport you to a certain place or moment in time. I love how looking at one can spontaneously make you laugh or cry.

I have also spent the last 20 years of my working life around them. From my early days in advertising where I would instruct and art direct photographers on how to shoot the right image before spending hours choosing just the right emotive image to sell a product, gift or item of clothing.

Over the years I've searched through and edited literally thousands of photos to find just the right shot before bringing it to life. Even when my job was to design Christmas gift wrap my designs almost always featured photographs. - Including the best selling line for Sainsburys xmas 2005 just so you know! 🤓

I also rarely leave the house without taking a camera. Long before the digital camera I simply couldn't go on any kind of trip without several rolls of film securely packed in my suitcase. My happiest times at Art college were spent in the darkroom. Even at the peek of my pre-children career I decided I wanted to know more and so enrolled myself and studied photographic styling at London's St Martins School of Art.

Photos got me through lockdown and the recent loss of my Dad by focussing on the good times and shared memories.

Yet after all of this I really struggle to call myself a photographer.

I am however a total photography nerd I know what makes a great picture and how to make the most from the ones you have. Which is why I'm perfectly placed to help you with yours!

Emily aka Photo nerd!! x
