While Shane was painting Mont Saint-Michel, we asked him to teach someone to paint alongside him — using just three colours, a small pad of watercolour paper, and whatever tips he could share between brushstrokes.

What came out was a crash course in plein air painting from someone who's been doing it for over twenty years. How to read the light. How to create depth with just a few tones. Why one colour matters more than all the others. And the one piece of advice that he says makes the biggest difference of all.

Whether you've painted before or never picked up a brush, there's something in here worth saving.

❤️ Would You Rather Sunday #5 — and we know you'll have someone in mind.
Would you rather:

A) Go to your absolute dream destination — but your travel companion complains the entire trip, nothing is ever good enough
OR
B) Go somewhere totally average — but you're with people who make every moment hilarious and memorable

Tag the person who makes even a Tesco car park feel like a holiday 😂 A or B in the comments 👇

We found the REAL Backrooms: Level 188.

Known as "The Windows" or "The Courtyard of Windows," Level 188 is one of the most iconic Backrooms levels because it's based on a real place: the Holiday Inn Express at Heathrow Terminal 4.

What looks like a normal hotel courtyard became internet legend thanks to its eerie, liminal design - rows of identical windows, artificial lighting, and an atmosphere that feels strangely disconnected from reality.

According to Backrooms lore:

🧠 Many wanderers experience intense déjà vu, as if they've been there before.

🌍 Some windows show impossible places - forests, oceans, empty cities, other Backrooms levels, or even locations from a person's own memories.

🚪 Opening the wrong curtain could make you disappear.

🔢 The number of windows constantly changes. Some people count around 90, others more than 200.

👁️ Some believe the windows aren't windows at all, but entities disguised as windows. Shadowy figures have been seen watching from behind the glass.

The photo of this hotel became the visual inspiration for Level 188 and is still one of the most recognisable locations in Backrooms history.

Would you stay here for a night? 😳

The destination is revealed — Mont Saint-Michel.

Rising from the tidal flats of Normandy, this medieval abbey has been drawing people in for over a thousand years. The story goes that a bishop from a neighbouring town had a dream in which the Archangel Michael told him to build on that little island. Construction began in the 8th century and continued for hundreds of years.

Now it's the subject of Shane's three-hour painting challenge. In this episode, he arrives in France, explores the area on foot, and scouts for the perfect viewpoint — looking for what he calls space, drama, and the right conditions. When he finally sees the spot, the reaction says everything.

Free tap water in European restaurants? Not a given — and the rules change the second you cross a border.

Italy's supreme court just confirmed in 2026 that restaurants don't have to give you free tap water. The case? A woman sued a five-star hotel for €2,700 in emotional distress after being offered only €7 bottled water. She lost.

France will pour you one for free with a meal. Spain has to since 2022. Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Ireland? Bottled or thirsty.

The UK still mandates free tap water in licensed venues — one perk of Brexit, depending on how you feel about it. 👀

There's a reason most people stop painting after childhood. It's not talent. It's fear.

Shane has spent over twenty years as a professional artist, and he's watched it happen countless times — people who'd love to pick up a brush but talk themselves out of it before they even start. The need to be perfect. The dread of getting it wrong. The voice that says it's not good enough.

His advice is simpler than you'd expect, and it applies to a lot more than painting. Sometimes the only thing standing between you and the thing you want to do is the willingness to just begin.
