Chasing Contours

Chasing Contours Sailing the seas to climb, hike, cycle, ski and fly the world's treasures. We decided it was time to try a different lifestyle and see the world.

We don’t belong to the ‘Quit Your Job, Follow Your Dreams, See the World’ genre; we don’t believe in just letting go of everything we built up over the years, and this goes true for work relationships, friends, and other connections that keep us rooted. It was Tim’s lifelong dream to set sail and explore, while my dream always involved travel and making a difference. Together, we change this perce

ption of a ‘trip’ into a ‘lifestyle’. We challenge ourselves to live a life where we will feel more connected to the natural environment, because we feel a responsibility towards it. We are excited to see how we handle living in close quarters over long periods of time, catching up on unread books, unpractised hobbies, learning new skills, and honing old ones. We are excited to take you with us on this journey, keep in touch and let the adventures begin!!!

A little late but here is a short edit of the passage over to Maderia. Leg one of our circumnavigation as family.

Next video will be our time in Maderia and then the third one will be Senegal and Gambia :)

This is the first leg of our circumnavigation. We didn't set off from the UK until August 7th and were keen to get going. I know all too well that the weathe...

I’m still not totally sure why I can’t link the Instagram account to this page so here’s an update if you’re just following this FB page.

We arrived in Porto Santo, one of the two islands of Madeira after a nice fast run from the UK in only eight days. Celestine was an absolute gem and took it in her stride. Perhaps better than we did both Porto Santo and Madeira were pretty busy with tourists, but we still manage to get off the beaten track and do lots of walking, diving, and I managed a short motorcycle trip. So here’s a few photos!

So it’s difficult to know these days what to update? My personal FB page or the Instagram or this page?

But for those that missed other updates, we’re now back on the boat and starting the circumnavigation. Apologies for the long delay on this but we had to wait for Célestine to get to the ripe old age of 4!

We left Falmouth 2 weeks ago and sailed for Maderia taking 9 days. We’re now safely anchored in Porto Santo and beginning the life aboard of home school and everything else which entails travelling with a child. But we will endeavour to keep things adventurous and interesting!

I think more regularly updates will be on the Instagram Chasing Contours page and then I’ll update this page perhaps every two weeks or so. 🤷‍♂️

For the moment paragliding and motorcycle trips will be minimal.

So this just came up in Estonia! For those that don’t know our family have been in maritime for 190 years, starting out as a humble ships chandlery in 1833. This would have been supplied to a ship around 1850. It’s a navigational sextant for determining your position using the sun and stars. These were still in use until the 1990s prior to GPS and ships are still required to carry them in case GPS goes down.

No flying, biking, climbing or skiing to report I’m afraid. Just Célestine enjoying her first experience of boat life. I’m thanking Neptune every day that she isn’t a seasick child!
