As those of you who know me will know - I love my job.

I love finding the right holidays for my clients, I like to think if I wouldn't go on that holiday I wouldn't book it for my clients. I like knowing that I have great relationships with trade suppliers and hoteliers around the world which all helps when I am requesting extras that make my clients stay all the better.

My big love in life as well as working in travel is too travel myself and I am delighted to announce I'm away in September discovering a beautiful gem of a place.

THE KIRKER JAZZ FESTIVAL AT THE STAR

3 nights | 12 February 2024

Based at Alex Polizzi's stylish hotel in Alfriston, the second Kirker Jazz Festival is curated by musician, author and journalist Oliver Condy, and stars award-winning pianist and composer Gwilym Simcock, alongside guests Martin France, Laurence Cottle and Hermine Deurloo.

The Music

Gwilym kicks off with a special solo set, combining sophisticated performances of jazz standards with his own inspiring material. For the second concert, Gwilym will be joined by two giants of the jazz world: electric bassist Laurence Cottle and drummer Martin France. High energy and spectacular musical interplay are all but guaranteed. Finally, we bring our festival to a close with a magical evening starring Dutch jazz harmonica virtuoso Hermine Deurloo. a player of incredible lyricism, virtuosity and sheer richness of tone. It promises to be both an atmospheric and utterly thrilling finale to our festival.


The Hotel

Oliver Condy and Gwilym Simcock will meet you at Alex Polizzi's critically-acclaimed hotel The Star. Opened in 2021, its 15th century façade remains unchanged, as does the extravagantly beamed bar, but behind this, a charming, leafy courtyard now leads to 30 comfortable and stylish bedrooms showcasing works by local artists.

Before each concert we will enjoy dinner in the hotel’s restaurant with Oliver and the musicians, and they will also join us for post-concert drinks in the stylish bar. During the day there will also be time to explore the stunning Sussex coastline and the South Downs, with maps for Alex Polizzi’s favourite walks available at the hotel. Duncan Grant’s murals at Berwick Church and the Towner Gallery at Eastbourne with its collection of works by Eric Ravilious are also within a short drive.
