Over the years, a number of our team here at the hangars have been affected by cancer. Some supporting loved ones at home, others who are bravely fighting as we speak, and sadly, those colleagues and friends who we have lost along the way.
ARCo is, at it’s core, a big hangar-housed family… and earlier this month, a team of our engineers decided they wanted to do something to show unity with all those within this family that have been affected by illness. The idea was to organise a charity head shave, and set up a Just Giving page in order to raise funds for .
Thanks to all of you wonderful people out there, this ‘humble’ charitable incentive has gained so much traction, and grown into something much bigger than any of the team behind it anticipated – smashing through the initial target within the first 24hours of going live. After such a generous and heartfelt response, the team have decided to up their target, and more members of the ARCo staff have signed up to take part!
As a company, we are extremely proud of the team responsible for coming up with this idea, and for setting up the project… With engineers from the Restoration & Maintenance Hangars, now joined by members of the wider team, all signing up - the list of those soon to be receiving the buzz cut seems to be growing by the day.
We would also like to thank the good folk over at hairdressers in Cambridge who have kindly offered to shave our team.
To anyone who can support their efforts with a small donation, we are all hugely grateful for your generosity! Here is a link to their JustGiving Page: http://bit.ly/3YtohSX
…I suppose in the mean time, we had better go and order some ARCo issued woollen hats for them all!
