After a month of blue skies in the Alps, our March Tour du Soleil trip saw heavy snowfall which fully tested everyone’s low-vis ski skills.

With rising avalanche risk, the team had to bail from the Mittlenberg hut on day two and drive round to Rifugio Margaroli. On day three, they managed to summit the classic Punta d'Arbola (3,235m) in a rare moment of clear weather.

Day four started with a super-fun ski down to Riale followed by skin up to the hut. On day five they teamed up with two other guided groups for some low-vis skiing towards Punta di Elgio.

On day six they relocated for a couple of nice ski tours near Rifugio Castiglioni, and could finally see where they were going!

A big thanks Cain Olsen MountainGuides.Italy for all his hard work in these difficult conditions and to Matt, Seb, Johnathan, Francis, Andrew and Chris for their positivity and great team work in the mountains!

🚨FEATURED COURSE: Alpine Apprenticeship Course

Got some climbing experience and want to tackle some of the more exciting alpine peaks? This is the adventure for you.

👀Our level 2 Alpine Apprenticeship Course allows you to develop your alpine climbing skills and you’ll tackle a diverse range of peaks in two contrasting areas of the Alps. It’s aimed at climbers with existing UK winter and summer experience, or those who have climbed in the Alps before. The trip will build on your skills and knowledge and allow you to break into the PD/AD grade range – where technical climbing skills become a necessity for safe progression.

❓To take part you need good general fitness and previous experience using an axe/crampons and also rock climbing experience to around V Diff standard.

🚨FINAL PLACES: Haute Route

We still have places remaining on two Haute Route trips on 5 Apr (2 places) and 12 Apr (3 places).

The Haute Route is a world-famous high-mountain journey. Incredible scenery, long ski descents, and challenging climbs make this a real bucket-list trip.

👀Our specialist ski touring guides know the route intimately and our 7-day program has an extra ‘weather day’ built in, to increase your chances of reaching Zermatt.

❓The Haute Route has become significantly harder in recent years. This is now an advanced-level trip. You need several weeks ski touring experience, preferably including hut-to-hut tours, as well as mountaineering experience using ice axes and crampons on steep terrain before you book on the trip.

🚨FEATURED TRIP: The Eiger

Is there a more iconic mountain than the Eiger?

If it’s on your dream list, then join on an ascent of the Eiger via the famous Mittellegi Ridge this July.

👀 The route offers wild exposure with stunning views, great rock climbing, some fixed ropes and a long and involved descent via the South Ridge. It's a great all-round challenge for seasoned mountaineers.

❓This is an advanced-level trip. You need previous AD alpine climbing experience as well as being able to climb UK grade V Diff/Severe rock easily in big boots with a pack on. Climbing the Eiger requires good levels of fitness and stamina, as the summit day involves 8-10 hours technical climbing at altitude.

📅19 July – we only have two places left for the Eiger this season

🚨LAST MINUTE PLACE: Finnmark

Due to a cancelation, we’ve got a rare last-minute opportunity for one person to join our epic Finnmark trip on 25 April.

Finnmark is the northernmost county in Arctic Norway. The Finnmark Alps surrounding Oksfjord and Langfjord are home to many great alpine peaks with a long and reliable ski season, making this a perfect venue for late season arctic ski touring.

👀There are numerous excellent ski peaks with summit-to-sea descents in the region and at this time of year the snow pack is generally well stabilised, with powder still common on north-facing slopes and good spring snow on other aspects. Most ski summits in the region are 800-1,000m in height, starting straight from sea level.

❓ This is an intermediate/advanced level trip. You need previous ski touring experience to join this tour – if you are a strong/fit skier, just a few previous days will be enough. You can expect to be skinning for 3-5 hours a day.

🇬🇧 25 April (1 place) - get in touch asap if you're interested.

🚨FINAL PLACE: Tour du Ciel

Due to a cancellation, we have one place left on the incredible Tour Du Ciel tour on 12 April.

With roped climbing, high summits, a 4,000m peak and brilliant skiing, the Tour du Ciel is one of the finest technical ski-mountaineering weeks in the Alps.

The tour involves a traverse of the legendary Arete du Blanc and the 4,000m Bishorn. Expect sections of climbing on foot each day, complicated glacier terrain and numerous long and varied descents.

❓ This is an advanced-level trip. You need several weeks multi-day hut-touring experience, plus some roped climbing or cramponing experience in order to join us. The week includes 6-8 hour days and some long (1,200m+) climbs.

has been making the best of the excellent conditions in the Alps at the moment for our Off Piste ski course weeks.

As Kenny is both an IFMGA Guide and a BASI ski instructor, this means that everyone has the benefit of the same guide all week. He’s run both our level 1 and level 2 courses, all excellently guided with a varied week of ski instruction and skills, mixed in with touring adventures around the Aiguilles Rouges, Grands Montets, La Vallée Blanche, Courmayeur, Les Contamines, Le Tour, St Gervais, Combloux and Aravis.

These courses are brilliant for progressing your backcountry skills and sell out quickly every year - we definitely recommend booking these early.

Big thanks to for leading our Oisans Ski Touring week earlier this February. John, Tony, Karen, Peter, Colin and Simon experienced a varied week of touring, which included plenty of touring skills development and avalanche safety training.

The team headed to the ever-reliable Col du Lauteret and the Col Laurichard, the tiny ski station of Les Chazalets overlooking La Grave, Refuge Napoléon in the Queyras and Névache.

What a week, thanks guys 👌

🚨LAST PLACE: Ortler Italian Alps Ski Tour

Want to join us for great Italian food, high-mountain glacial scenery and big ski peaks? We've got one place left on this year's Ortler Alps Ski Tour on 29 March.

👀 The Ortler Alps Ski Tour explores the Stelvio National Park, in the South Tyrol region of Northern Italy. This is a classic hut tour, with a number of great ski peaks and long, north-facing glacier descents. Plus, we spend more than one night in each hut, allowing you to enjoy day tours with lighter packs.

❓ This is an intermediate-level trip. You need previous multi-day hut touring experience in order to join us on this tour. Typically there will be 900-1,200m of climb a day, with options to make things easier or harder along the way, so you can expect to be skinning for 3-4 hours a day. The huts in the area are very comfortable, with hot showers available in some, en-suite rooms in others and even a sauna at the Pizzini Hut!
