An Ulster-Scots souvenir for Coronation Day! Our commemorative design features a number of important cultural stories and motifs relevant to the Ulster-Scots community. The element that hasn't featured in a post previously is the Scottish Royal Motto, In my defens, God me defend. This comes from a centuries old prayer in the Scots language, "In my defense God me defend
and bring my saulle to ane guid end O Lord". The motto has been in use since at least 1488 and is often abridged to just "In Defens". It is a reminder that our shared Scots/Ulster-Scots language was once the official language of the Scottish state and Royal Court. It will be available as a printed poster soon. Look out for updates.
