A visit to the International Bomber Command Centre is more than just a day out — it’s a powerful reminder of courage, sacrifice and resilience. Set against stunning views overlooking the city of Lincoln, the site offers a peaceful and respectful atmosphere where history is truly felt. Free to visit, with a welcoming café and beautifully maintained grounds, it’s a place where people can pause, reflect and learn.

The memorial stands in honour of the incredibly brave men and women of Bomber Command who faced unimaginable danger during the Second World War. Many climbed into their aircraft night after night knowing the odds were against them, yet still carried out their duty with extraordinary courage. The sacrifice represented here is immense, and the memorial serves as a lasting tribute to those who gave everything in the service of their country and freedom itself.

Today on Lincoln High Street I witnessed something genuinely heartwarming.
In a world where people are often rushing past each other, this gentleman stood there all day bringing smiles to children’s faces, spreading kindness and raising money for children’s charity with nothing more than warmth, humour and a big heart.
You could see the excitement in the kids as they stopped to look, smile and interact, and it was a reminder that small acts of kindness still make a huge difference. People like this are part of what makes Lincoln and Lincolnshire such a special place.
Not all heroes wear capes — some stand on our high streets making children smile one donation at a time. ❤️
