Logistics for visiting 👇🏼

📍Located below the Rock of Cashel (County Tipperary)

🚗 Park at the Rock of Cashel main lot and walk down (about 10–15 minutes through a field and then alongside a road, it’s easy)

⏰ Open access, free to enter, but best to go in daylight

👟 Wear shoes that can get muddy- the ground can be wet and there are cow turds all over 💩

It’s quiet. It’s open. It feels untouched, and somehow a lot of people miss it.

Make sure to add a visit to H**e Abbey to your Ireland itinerary! 🇮🇪

Wild swimming in Scotland isn’t for the weak! 🏊‍♀️

I thought the water was way too cold to get in (this is from June!) but my husband loved it 😀.

This spot is popular as it’s so close to the road, but there are loads more hidden gems you can find if you spend a few days hiking through Glencoe. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We’re simple creatures really. All we all want is our own personal Jamie Fraser ya know? 😜

…and to frolic through Scotland and pretend we’re living in a tv series 😇😅. Is this too much to ask?!?

Oh yeah and if you truly do want to go visit some Outlander filming locations, then I’m your girl!

I have lots of reels and resources on where to go in Scotland and how to plan it all 🥳.

Our family had a great time exploring Indianapolis! ✨

It really does feel like an underrated Midwest destination

🚙Just a 1 hour 45 minute drive from the Cincinnati area, it’s an easy road trip (It’s also a 1hr 45min drive from Louisville, and 2hr 45min from Columbus)

An ideal place for a memorable trip with kids in tow, 👶🏼 Indy has many great things to do.

Here are a few of the spots from my reel:

🎉Activities: The Children’s Museum (), Indy Canal Walk, Indianapolis Zoo (), Shops of Massachusetts Avenue

🍽️Food: Gordon’s Milkshake Bar (), Harry & Izzy’s (), Cafe Patachou at the Stutz (), Baby’s Burgers (), Iozzo’s Garden of Italy (), Bovaconti Coffee (), Garage Food Hall ()

Details on visiting ⬇️

While an eerie place with a truly tragic history, this abandoned castle is actually at the end of a (now) peaceful, scenic walking trail.🌳

In a residential area near Glasgow, Scotland, we were able to park at the base of the trail and enjoy a nice walk up. 🥾

It is abandoned and closed to the public, so you can only see a bit from the outside. 🏰

However, there are ruins of a medieval castle in the woods just off the trail too, and plenty to satisfy your curiosity!

➡️More on its history: 🏰

•Built in the 1830s, this was once a grand residence before becoming a psychiatric hospital in 1936.

•At its peak, the hospital housed over 1,500 patients

•Overcrowding and understaffing led to severe neglect. Patients, many with learning disabilities, endured poor living conditions, lack of proper medical care, and instances of abuse. 😞

•Reports from the mid-20th century exposed the harsh realities of life inside the institution, with allegations of mistreatment.

•By the 1970s, public concern grew, leading to calls for reform. The hospital was eventually closed in 2002.

•Today, the ruins serve as a reminder of both its grand origins, and troubled history as an institution.

➡️Is it haunted? 👻

•Yes, there are rumors that Lennox Castle is haunted, which is not uncommon for abandoned sites with a troubled history!

•Given its long past as both a residence and a psychiatric hospital, many believe the spirits of former patients and residents linger on the property…

•People have reported strange occurrences such as unexplained noises, disembodied voices, and sightings of shadowy figures within the ruins. 😳😳

Originally built as a hunting lodge in 1758, it was enlarged in the early 1800s by Lady Mary Crawford (whose spirit is said to haunt the grounds!) 👻

Mary hired architects to redesign the building in a gothic style. They added buttresses, turrets and pinnacles. This created the “look” of a religious priory, ⛪️ although it has no religious affiliation.

Lady Mary’s heirs developed it further. However, huge debts forced the family to sell it 🙁. The property passed to a politician in 1919. More extensions were added in the 1920s, but by 1968 the house was closed. It then fell into disrepair and ruin, and has been left to the elements for over 50 years. 😞 In my opinion, it’s beyond the point of any repair.

Today, it’s completely in shambles. When we visited, we heard stones falling (likely due to the ravens living there- 🦅 which gave it a creepy vibe!), and noticed plenty of safety concerns. ⚠️ If you do visit, be extremely careful.
