As much as I go on about how much I love London (and it’s true, I do), sometimes it does get a bit much and I crave a bit of nature, a long hike or just somewhere new to explore.

One of the best things about London is how easy it is to leave it. Within an hour or 2 you can be by the sea, out in the countryside, wandering through ancient towns with crooked buildings or shopping for antiques down small alleys.

Swipe for our favourite London day trips which can all be reached easily on public transport.

These are the restaurants we keep going back to in London - whether it’s date night, dinner with friends, or a special occasion, we know we’ll have a great time at any of these.

There’s something for everyone - casual spots great for a midweek treat, social dining that’s perfect for groups, and a few higher-end places for when you want to celebrate. Some are all about the food, others the atmosphere (and yes, a few have the Instagram-worthy factor, but still worth it)

Where’s somewhere you always go back to in London?

If we had to make someone fall for London, we’d take them here 👀

Some people fall for London instantly, I know I did, but for others it takes finding that right place. Here are our favourites 🥹

Wapping - we love this part of London. It feels like stepping back in time with cobbled streets, old warehouses turned apartments and historic riverside pubs looking out towards Canary Wharf — a complete contrast 😍

Hampstead - feels more like a village than London. Cosy pubs and cafés, pretty streets, Georgian houses and a huge park with walking trails, swimming ponds (a must in summer) and some of the best views over the city 🤩

Little Venice - a beautiful, leafy neighbourhood that’s perfect for a slower day. Walk along the canals past colourful houseboats, then stop at a waterside café or pub and soak up the atmosphere 🍻

Walthamstow - slightly biased as this is home, but it’s one of our favourite areas. Independent businesses, cosy pubs, incredible food and a real local, community feel 🥰

Victoria Park - our first local park and still our favourite 9 years later. It’s the heart of the community — farmers markets, festivals, lakeside walks and a coffee from The Pavilion is always a good idea 🌳

Epping Forest - nature without leaving London but you genuinely feel like you have. Ancient woodland, miles of walking trails, wildlife, and countryside pubs that do a cracking Sunday roast 😋

Regent’s Park & Primrose Hill - changes with the seasons and is beautiful in every one of them. Cherry blossom in spring, roses in summer, golden leaves in autumn and skyline views from Primrose Hill 🌸

Brick Lane - one of the most vibrant parts of East London. Street food, markets, vintage shops and bold street art, all shaped by the mix of cultures that give this area its energy 🎨

Where would you take someone to make them fall in love with London?

Which free London viewpoints are actually worth it? (And which aren’t) 👀

London has more free viewpoints than you might expect - from lush indoor roof gardens and huge glass skyscrapers to park viewpoints and secret rooftops you could have all to yourself 😮

These spots are some of our favourite free views in London but some are definitely better than others. And while a few need tickets, they’re not always easy to get, so it’s always worth having a backup.

Comment VIEW and we’ll send you our full guide - including exactly where they are, how to get there, whether you need to book and what to do if tickets are sold out. We’ve also shared our honest thoughts and rankings on which ones are actually worth adding to your London itinerary.

Some things only make sense once you’ve lived in London for a while 👀

London has its own logic that’s absolutely ridiculous at times - but after a while it all starts to feel completely normal.

You’ll spend hours on the Tube just to catch up with friends, pints have crept up to £8, so £7 somehow feels like a bargain, and you get irrationally angry when someone stands on the wrong side of the escalator 😡

Best places to escape the city in London 🍃

As much as we love London, sometimes we just need to escape the city and be surrounded by nature. One of the best things about London is many parks and green spots it has; you’re never far from your nature fix 🌳

Here are some of our favourites:

1. Victoria Park - our favourite park in the heart of East London. So many beautiful features including 2 lakes, a colourful Chinese pagoda, dogs guarding the entrance and a cracking street food market on Sundays 😋

2. Regent’s Park - changes with the seasons and is always so colourful. Check out the view of the city from Primrose Hill and stroll through some of the beautiful gardens. Make sure to check out the outdoor cinema in the summer ☀️

3. Epping Forest - we’re so lucky that this is right on our doorstep. Ancient woodland full of walking trails, lakes full of wildlife, cycling trails and beautiful countryside 🌳 super easy to reach from central London

4. Battersea Park - a large Victorian park with riverside promenade and so much variety - gorgeous colourful gardens, sculptures, water features, a Peace Pagoda and so much more

5. Greenwich Park - home of the Meridian Line, Londons famous cherry blossom tunnel and incredible skyline views over Canary Wharf 🌸

6. St James’s Park - gorgeous park in central London with views of Buckingham Palace and the London Eye. Also home to pelicans

7. Hampstead Heath - did you know you could go wild swimming in London?? Hampstead Heath has a few swimming ponds and then you can dry off with a picnic overlooking the skyline 🤩

What you need to know before visiting the Sky Garden ✨

The Sky Garden is one of London’s most popular free viewpoints but it’s not quite as straightforward as just turning up (although you can try this).

We’ve been a few times in our 8 years of living in London and while it’s one of our favourite viewpoints, it’s always busy and tickets are quite tricky to get.

One of London’s oldest and most beautiful neighbourhoods 🤩

Comment WAPPING and we’ll send you our full guide to this tiny area in East London completely shrouded in history.

Wapping is hands-down one of London’s most beautiful neighbourhoods. I love spending a day here. It’s completely different to anywhere else in the city and is such an interesting mix of past and future.

Old converted warehouses are now luxury apartments, secret beaches with ex*****on docks have a backdrop of Canary Wharf’s glass skyscrapers, docks with a dark history have the Gherkin towering above them 🤯

For centuries Wapping had a strong maritime presence and was even where pirates and mutineers were hanged for over 400 years. You’ll still see remnants of this dark history on Wapping’s streets. 🏴‍☠️

You can also visit central London’s only marina, St Katharine Docks where luxury yachts and old warehouses are towered over by the City’s huge skyscrapers 😮 it’s a great spot for waterside food and drinks 😋

The best thing to do in Wapping is a pub crawl through the historic pubs that line the Thames🍻
