Police in Portsmouth have warned crowds not to cover their faces as rival protest groups gather in the city centre. Anti-immigration protesters and anti-racism demonstrators assembled to face each other on opposite sides of Guildhall Square in Portsmouth.

Members of both crowds were seen shouting across the square as police attempted to keep the groups separated. The face-off comes after masked men dressed in black blockaded the Port of Dover last weekend.

Police issued explicit warnings to everyone attending the demonstration in Portsmouth not to wear face coverings. Officers made clear that anyone attempting to hide their identity could face immediate arrest under public order powers.

The demonstrations follow several days of far-right protests across the region, triggered by small boat arrivals. Hampshire Police confirmed that strict gathering conditions were placed on both groups to maintain order in the city centre.

"We will support those who want to express their views peacefully and lawfully, but we will not tolerate those whose only aim is to create fear and incite violence," a police spokesperson said.

Police units remain stationed throughout Guildhall Square to prevent further escalation between the opposing sides.

On Friday, Hampshire Police said ahead of the planned protest: "We will support those who want to express their views peacefully and lawfully, but we will not tolerate those whose only aim is to create fear and incite violence."

🚨 Bike Stolen in Broad Daylight While the Owner Was Having Lunch

A shocking theft caught on camera. Two men reportedly walked into a restaurant, broke the bike’s handle/lock and simply rode away with it while the owner was inside having lunch.

What makes this even more unbelievable is that one of them appears to wave at the camera as they leave. 😳

It raises a serious question: Have some criminals become so confident that they simply don’t care about being caught?

How do we tackle bike theft and make people feel safer protecting their property?

🚨 Machete Spotted at Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration where thousands of people come together to enjoy music, culture and have a good time. So seeing a young person apparently carrying a machete at the event is deeply worrying.

People come to enjoy themselves — not to face the fear of knives or violence.

How do we stop dangerous weapons from becoming part of events that should be about celebration and community?

🚨 Machete Robbery Caught on Camera in London

A shocking incident caught on camera, with a group appearing to use machetes during a robbery in broad daylight. The fact that people can seemingly arrive by bike, threaten others and leave so quickly is deeply worrying.

Are we becoming too used to seeing this kind of crime in London and across the UK? It should never be considered normal.

🚨 Shoplifting in Broad Daylight — Where Are We Heading?

In this video, three men with their faces covered appear to walk into a Tesco, take bottles of alcohol and walk straight back out while security watches.

It’s worrying to see this kind of behaviour happening so openly. When people feel confident enough to walk into a shop, take goods and leave in front of security, it raises serious questions about what can be done to tackle retail crime.

Are we going backwards? What needs to change to make our shops and communities safer?

🚨 Bike Robbery in Broad Daylight

A disturbing incident involving three teenagers who appear to be attempting to rob a person of their push bike using a knife. The person is also attacked during the incident, all happening in broad daylight.

It’s deeply worrying to see this kind of violence happening in public. A bike is never worth someone getting hurt over.
