Recently we highlighted Legendary Songa Camp, well here is Legendary Nyasi Camp - the Northern Serengeti mobile camp which hosts the migration from July to September.

Nyasi is in the Lamai wedge which still offers prime wildebeest migration viewing without the unethical crowds of the Kogatende area. There is no guide good enough to avoid what’s happening in the Kogatende area of the Northern Serengeti.

A lovely little short video from Segera in Kenya of their resident cheetah - cheetah are highly endangered now, you can see them in this video looking unsettled and this is usually because they have seen or caught wind of lion, leopard or hyena. All three species will try and kill a cheetah if they see one to protect their food sources, this alongside human wildlife conflict mean the cheetah has a tougher and tougher time in modern day Africa.

Leopards are expert climbers and there’s nothing which is too much of a challenge for them. In fact they positively love climbing as you can see with leopard cubs when they start from a young age practising their climbing skills.

Leopards have a far more serious reason for become adept climbers - this is their main source of safety, to be up high away from lions and hyena below. They often drag a kill high into a tree to eat in peace and in the shade. Seeing a leopard drag a huge kill into a tree is very special, unique and we hope our guests get to experience something that awe inspiring.

Helicopter flight over the Delta for anyone? This is the kind of experience we simply include in your bespoke safari - seeing the water channels from the air (and their inhabitants) is so special and we wouldn’t want you to miss out.

The helicopter pilots we work with are exceptional and fly around the Delta day in day out, their knowledge imparted over the radio as you fly is also a highlight.

We absolutely LOVE Songa Migration Camp in the Southern Serengeti. As we all know from the long awaited exposure of Kenya and Tanzania they have let the crowds of people seeing the Wildebeest Migration get completely out of control and unethical - however we do have access to camps such as this in areas perfect for the calving season, without the badly behaved masses - and then you really are experiencing one of the best wildlife spectacles on earth.

The earthy tones of this wonderful mobile camp feel authentic and natural, and with deliciously comfortable beds and fresh gourmet food, you’re onto a winner.

If looking in the Southern Serengeti between December to March Alex Walker’s Serian South also boasts a dreamy location far from the madding crowd.

This video perfectly encapsulates the amazing job Singita Kwitonda’s architects and design team did in ensuring everything about it was just wholly Rwandan, every finish, every activity, every small touch centres around the country that the lodge was built in.

Singita is primarily a conservation company and this shows in every aspect of their lodges. While staying at Kwitonda or the private Kataza House you can see and feel the amazing conservation work this company has brought to this area, as well as becoming involved with it while you stay there if you wish.

We’d actually just stopped in the middle of the bush minding our own business when this sub adult hyena approached us from miles away - these intelligent and inquisitive pups are incredibly endearing. It’s lucky the safari vehicles are well made as he seemed to want to put everything in his mouth, similar to all babies!

Sunrise at San Camp in Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Pans remains one of the most special experiences in Africa - the peace of this area is second to none with just desert birds and wildebeest calling to the rising sun.

After a ferocious fight with tens of hyenas she started to move her well earnt meal into the shade where the cubs waited patiently. The bravery and perseverance of this lioness was awesome to behold - she never gave up and never gave in.

Her and her cubs were well fed and when they eventually moved off into the bush there was plenty for the hyenas to feast on - a successful day for predators and scavengers alike.
