Set on Bwejuu Beach on Zanzibar’s quieter south-east coast, Breezes is the kind of resort that makes a beach holiday feel effortless. The Salama Dining Room serves four-course dinners alongside themed evenings such as Swahili Night, Spices Evening and Trade Winds Night. There is also the beachfront Breakers Grill, afternoon tea at the Chai Lounge, drinks around a traditional dhow at the Dhow Bar, and private dining for two at The Tides.
And although Breezes has broad appeal, it never feels anonymous. Thatched roofs, carved timber, glowing lanterns and lush gardens keep Zanzibar present throughout the stay. Beyond the resort, guests can combine the coast with Stone Town, whose historic centre reflects centuries of African, Arab, Indian and European influence.
Its greatest luxury is not isolation or extravagance.
