OUT TOMORROW: the truly inspirational story of Merlyn Nuttall, who was abducted from a busy city street in broad daylight, strangled with a cheese wire and a broken bottle, set on fire, left for dead. Her attack was so brutal and sadistic, the lead detective said “I’ve only ever seen wounds that serious on a dead body”. It’s a miracle that she survived. But how did she?

Today at the Old Bailey, Yostin Andres Mosquera was CONVICTED of the brutal double murder of Paul Longworth and Albert Alfonso. His sentencing has been delayed until the 24th of October 2025, as the judge has ordered him to be psychiatrically assessed. And as he wasn’t a British citizen but a Columbian national, once he has served his sentence, it is likely he will be deported back to his home country.

This is the Prince Edward Theatre (formerly the Prince of Wales) on Old Compton Street in Soho.

Having separated from her violent and abusive husband, after he had tried to murder her, with him serving just two months for this attack, William Curtin went back to work as a scene shifter at this theatre.

Being busy would have been the best thing for both of them, but as Annie had fled to a new lodging at 11 Old Compton Street, from right here; he could watch her come and go, he could see her get undressed within, and 10th of May 1931 at 8am, he walked from here into her lodging, hid under her bed, watched her undress, and waited for the right moment to kill her.

But why did the law fail to stop him, as this was the second time he would try to murder her?

On Sunday the 10th of May 1931 at 8am, 27-year-old Annie Curtin, a single mother who was recently separated from her husband William, entered her lodging on the second floor of 11 Old Compton Street in Soho. She was tired after her nightshift and just wanted to go to sleep.

But somewhere in her room, she heard something creak. Somewhere under her bed, she smelled a familiar smell. And as a man rose up from under her bed, seeing the knife in his hand, she realised it was the man who had tried to murder her before. But if he hadn’t escaped from prison, how could be murder her a second time?

The tragic story of Annie Curtin is one which will make you appreciate ‘how safe you truly are’.

This is the Bateman Buildings in Soho.

It was in this pokey little alley where William Curtin was born and raised; it was here that as a child he probably witnessed his own mother being assaulted and abused, it was here that he learned to drink, to steal and to be violent, where years later his own son would be born, and although Annie, the wife he had tried to kill once before had finally left him, it was here where he borrowed a knife, and walked to the neighbouring street intent on killing her.

The tragic story of Annie Curtin is one which – for many women – is tragically all-too-familiar.

At the German YMCA in Bayswater, on the 28th of October 1992, the body of a homeless woman was found in one of the bedrooms; she had been strangled, r***d and beaten to death. Her identity remains unknown even to this day and she was buried in an anonymous grave.
Police though this was the killing of a pr******te by an angry punter who they would never see again. And although, this was his final attack, it marked the end of a vicious spree by a horrific ra**st, kidnapper, pa******le, alleged necrophile and an almost triple murderer.

The Press called him the ‘Beast of Banffshire’, but his real name was Colin.

Ep303: Dirty Money, a case you won't hear anywhere else by Murder Mile UK True Crime podcast. The murderer Robert Ekairek was a jealous and controlling self-absorbed narcissist.

Before he murdered Li, he wouldn’t let her have her own money, her own friends, she was effectively a prisoner in her own home. And yet, when you look at his life, he was shallow, vane and obsessed by possessing objects of desires; he owned a gold plated toilet, gold-leaf carpet embroidered with the Versace logo, £3 million teddy bear collection, a fleet of prestige sports cars and a Bentley, a bedside phone shaped like Mickey Mouse with its number plate being his own name, and he owed an golden iPod which was engraved in diamonds with the words: “I am Robert Ekaireb, the one and only”. …as well as an attractive wife, who he killed when she tried to leave him.

DO SOMETHING GOOD TODAY:

This woman was assaulted and then he left it 30 hours to call the police. She died leaving a young child and now they have been told that they can’t get him for murder because evidence was destroyed over the 30 hours.

Her family want to make it illegal to not call for help straight away. Would so appreciate it, they are so close:

SORRY, this is for UK people only.
