Conwy Castle was part of string of fortifications built along the welsh coastline after the invasion of Wales by King Edward I. After withstanding several sieges it eventually feel into ruin and became an attractive destination for painters. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site for Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd, the castle marks the pinnacle of 13th century architecture.
