This course, Arte del Seicento a Napoli e in Italia Meridionale (Art of the 17th Century in Naples and Southern Italy), delves into the rich artistic production of the 17th century in Naples and Southern Italy, from Caravaggio to Mattia Preti and Salvador Rosa, exploring the unique cultural, historical, and socio-political factors that shaped artistic developments during this period. Through an analysis of paintings, you will examine the major artistic movements, themes, and prominent artists of the 17th century in Naples and its surrounding regions.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
• understand the cultural and historical context of 17th-century Naples and its surrounding regions;
• analyse major artistic movements and styles of the Seicento in Naples;
• explore the works of key artists and their contributions to the art of the period.

Naples, with its vibrant atmosphere, picturesque alleys, rich history, and culture, has served as a scenic background for numerous films that have captured the beauty, the soul and complexity of this city. During this course, ‘’Naples and its Surroundings’’, we will explore some of the best films shot in Naples, which have immortalized its magic on the big screen, and the city historical evolution, from its ancient origins to its role in modern time.
The course is specifically designed for advanced and proficient students who are seeking to master Italian while exploring Italy, its rich history, culture, and life. Participants will engage in advanced language practice, focusing on refining grammar, expanding vocabulary, and enhancing conversational skills.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the Italian language, including complex grammatical structures, extensive vocabulary, and nuanced conversational skills
• Develop analytical skills and investigate Naples's history, culture and life
• Identify and describe the diverse architectural styles found throughout the town and surrounding area
