Some hotels give you a room. Argos in Cappadocia gives you a thousand years of history to sleep inside. 🌙
Carved into the volcanic rock of Uçhisar, this restored monastery-turned-boutique hotel is unlike anywhere I’ve ever recommended and I use that word carefully.
Seventy-one rooms and suites tucked into ancient caves, some with private in-rock pools and fireplaces, where the walls themselves tell the story of the landscape around you.
The cave spa is the largest underground spa in Europe with a hammam and pool hidden beneath the rock, where you genuinely lose track of time. Then there’s the restaurants, Nahita & Seki: Anatolian cuisine crafted from ingredients grown within 60km, served on a terrace overlooking the fairy chimneys of Pigeon Valley. It’s the most awarded restaurant in the region and with Two Michelin Keys for the hotel itself, the recognition is well deserved.
The wine cellar might be the most memorable room of all. Nearly 22,000 bottles housed in a network of ancient cave tunnels, some from Argos’s own Cappadocian vineyards including a Kalecik Karası that will stay with you long after you’ve left.
This is the kind of place that makes people rethink what luxury travel can feel like. Not performance. Not perfection. Just somewhere that makes you feel like you’re in another world.
