Following , we are sharing stories of women transforming agriculture and building new economic opportunities in their communities.

In Malawiโ€™s Salima District, Mbumba Mita left a successful career in marketing to invest in farming. Today she is building a commercial mango enterprise that is creating jobs, sharing knowledge with other farmers and supplying higher quality produce to the market.

Through the UK Government funded Malawi Value Chains (MVC) programme, implemented by ASI, Mbumba gained the technical and financial skills needed to turn her orchard into a growing agribusiness.

Her message to other women in agriculture is simple:
โ€œDo not be afraid of the technical side of farming. Start where you are, keep learning and apply what you learn.โ€

Ethiopia is advancing ambitious plans to expand electrification while integrating renewable energy and digital solutions into its power system. Through the National Electrification Program (NEP), the Government of Ethiopia is targeting 96% on-grid electricity access by 2030, combining grid expansion with off-grid solutions to reach millions of households still without reliable power.

Through the Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme (GCIEP), ASI is working with Ethiopia Electric Power, Ethiopia Electric Utility, key ministries and market actors to modernise energy systems and unlock new investment opportunities.

Our work focuses on two interconnected areas:
โšก Smart grid optimisation โ€“ exploring how digital technologies and data-driven solutions can strengthen grid reliability and affordability.
