Finally, I went to see this brilliant exhibition, having been too busy enjoying the summer sun to visit galleries. The Sun and Moon; art inspired by the celestial, is packed with art and artifacts from fans, and swimming costumes to unicorns dancing with virgins. Plus artists from Dürer, Joseph Wright of Derby, Arthur Rackham, Barbara Hepworth to contemporary artists.
It closes on 8th September, so if you haven't been already I do urge you to go, it really is delightful experience that will leave you glowing. (I love a pun as much as I love the sun and moon 🌞 🌙)

Potters Fields Park looked like a beach at the weekend, so parched and dry was the grass, for Pizza Village London bringing traditional Neapolitan pizza to Tower Bridge, sponsored by the world's most ubiquitous beverage.
My Italian friend thought it was the most authentic pizza she'd had in London.

Cart Marking returned to Guildhall this year, with vehicles from the Worshipful Company of Carmen turning up to have them branded.
Everything from buses to bicycles, fire engines, charabancs, a John Marsden funeral hearse and steam wagons was given a new letter branding for this year.
The perfect event for geeks like me that love anything made of chrome, powered by steam, or horsedriven.

Some highlights included;
Cosmo the horse pulling the Grundon Recycling cart, that won a prize for best turned out vehicle.
Jezebel the 1916 Dennis N-type fire engine the mascot of the RCS at Imperial College.
The rare 1966 rear engine Routemaster FRM1.

The NPG annual Portrait Awards opened on 25th June and runs until 7th October 2026.
Here are some of my highlights including the Young Artist Award winner Joel Nichols.
It was also lovely to meet Doris Rose over from Canada with her family to celebrate her portrait 'Stripes' painted on copper, one of my favourites.
Lovely to see so many great female artist in the exhibition.

Brighton isn't just beach and bars, there's plenty of art too, including Soft Machines created by Ivan Morison for Brighton Festival. Only there 2-24 May 2026.
I love the last photo too, with the explanation from the artist where the little girl is making her own art with shadows.
