Get There Get Lost

Get There Get Lost This is a call to action - a reminder of a promise that we will make every effort to get there, to ge This is for that one person. And this is a call to action.

It started as a collection of pictures, almost 2 terabytes worth for two households for the past decade or so. That may be a lot, or not at all, but it was from that collection when we thought, we’ve moved across oceans, across the ends of countries, and in between, life had happened. Perhaps the photos that contain our lives can reside somewhere else other than our hard drives. Perhaps one person

out there can stumble upon a photo that will make him take his next adventure. It could very well be ourselves. We dream, we get inspired. But our wanderlust stays in our hearts while the inertia from our life’s responsibilities contains our dreams. The hardest part is picking up momentum. But all it takes is a spark. And with that spark, one can get there, wherever ‘there’ is. In every adventure, there is always some sense of being lost. After all, would it still be an adventure if there is no mystery to anything? We get lost in the moment, in our senses, in the culture, the food, the conversation, sometimes even literally, and that fear we feel at that moment becomes the story that defines our trip, and therefore shaping what we become next. So that’s our travel philosophy. Life is much different now than when we first started traveling – we have families, we have households to run, even careers to manage. So for us, this is a promise that amidst all that, we will make every effort to get there, to get lost, and take the next adventure.

We made it to Lima, and first on the agenda is to honor one of the restaurants that make this city a culinary destination. Astrid & Gaston.

Gorgeous 300 year old building, gorgeous decor in a hacienda style home, gorgeous collection of art hanging on the walls, gorgeous food (or course), and gorgeous Astrid herself.

What a way to start a trip.

Little did I know things will take a turn for the worse less than 24 hours later…

Être bien dans sa peau.

- French expression by way of my current read “The Paris Apartment” by Lucy Foley

To feel good in your own skin.

Here’s a true story: I’m massively insecure, I’m sure you can guess why.

But since I turned 33 - yes, exactly when I turned 33 - I simply didn’t have time nor the patience for it. I’m not oozing in confidence now. I just say “f*ck it” sooner and more easily.

“I do not wish women to have power over men, but over themselves.” - Mary Wollstonecraft

That’s what growing old is about. No, it’s not my birthday but it is Women’s History Month. 💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️

Finally posting for posterity because I’m latergram like that, and also to prove to myself that I do more than just work, read, and watch tiktoks on IG.

Dinner with my lovely ladies for our inaugural social club at . Salut ladies 🥂! So excited for what we have planned!

My favorites on the tasting menu were the agnolotti with fresh shaved black truffle and the wagyu beef dishes.

But most memorable was the violet mood cocktail with absinthe, gin, lemon syrup and lavender 🍸

My honey bunny , happy birthday. 🧡

Thank you for the hopeful smile you give me every morning, and holding my hand even in my sleep. Thank you for listening to my random Saturday theses, and your persistence to engage however way you can. Thank you for teaching me that love is less about grand gestures and more in the quiet security of connection.

I love you bubba. For you I bleed myself dry.

12 years, church wedding edition 🧡

“This is what love does. In the stories, love healed your wounds, fixed what was broken, allowed you to go on. But love wasn’t a spell, some kind of benediction to be whispered, a balm or a cure-all. It was a single, fragile thread, which grew stronger through connection, through shared hardship and honored trust.”
- Rule of Wolves, Leigh Bardugo

That is indeed what love does. Of all the things I’ve learned about marriage, and what and I share, that basically sums it up. A single thread. Which has grown stronger instead of frayed. Which I pray grows stronger still. And our story continues on.

It’s you and me, bubba. Happy anniversary! 🧡

Not going to lie, this whole time I’ve heard of Yosemite and it’s Half Dome, I thought there was a Full Dome somewhere, like the former being an intermediate level hike and latter the strenuous one. I stand corrected.

Half Dome was glorious from the Yosemite Falls trail, but I have to say, the valley below covered in snow was quite charming.

Our 2022 journey begins today!

Well not really today, we’ve been journeying to 2022 since we were born, as we do all tomorrows, but you know what I mean. 😉

“How had I only just learned that happiness and fulfillment were entirely distinct things?” - The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner

My 2021 wasn’t particularly epic. It was wonderfully balanced, and for that I am most humbled and grateful.

But just zooming in to this past month when I was more introspective, wrote more (though not here), meditated a lot, built deeper connections with more thoughtful discourse along the way, I felt the balance that I didn’t know was my happiness. And interestingly also made me feel fulfilled.

I pray for happiness and fulfillment for us all this 2022, whatever and however that looks like for you. But also safety and yes, world peace. 🧡

Salut! 🥂

Made like this guy and slept until 10AM today. 😌😌

But for this green turtle on Piopu Beach, it was an afternoon of nap probably at his favorite basking spot. 🐢 Though I didn’t see any monk seals that day, which apparently also love Poipu Beach.
*PSA: At least 10 ft from the turtles and seals please, use a selfie stick and zoom if you have to, and never with a flash.*

I have to say, I didn’t think I needed our Hawaii trip so much after being cooped up at home for a year and a half because I was having such a productive time with my home projects. Oh but I did.

The break from the routine, the different food, the wonder of what a place will look like, the journey and the navigation to get there, the strangers I’ll acquaint with, the pondering that the experiences will bring, the inspiration that they become after.

That’s definitely what I missed. 🧡

Sunset skies I don’t even have to fake. 🌄 Evidently, this is what Hawaii is about. 😌

I thought I should actually take some time to post photos this time (and again) because I enjoyed looking at the memory videos my phone made so much to the point that I paused and said, ‘seems worth sharing’.

I’ve noticed that, like me, a lot of people I follow who are not micro or macro influencers have been posting only sporadically. Why is that? I know for me I consume IG differently - more DMs with my peeps, or using it more like Pinterest I guess. I wonder if that’s the case for many of you as well.

I didn’t even do my traditional birthday post lol. Oh yes, I celebrated a birthday last month. Maybe I’ll do a random appreciation of myself post 🤣. Or maybe not, we shall see.

Miss you all! Have a restful Sunday! 🧡

12 years. 🧡

Oh my honey bunny , 12 years. From “Ciao, bella” to becoming actually speechless to being able to get some words back like “Bianca, fun in that sun!”

At my weakest when I hate the world for what happened to you, your hug and gesture that “it’s ok” pretty instantly changes my outlook. And of course, I have become your right hand, your right leg, your left brain. We are each other’s strength. Because we are each other’s love.

“I speak of a love that brings sight to the blind. Of a love stronger than fear. I speak of a love that breathes meaning into life, that defies the natural laws of deterioration, that causes us to flourish, that knows no bounds. I speak of the triumph of the human spirit over selfishness and death.” - The Art Of Hearing Heartbeats, Jan-Philipp Sendker

Happy 12th anniversary honey bunny! Salut to you and me! It’s you and me, bubba. 🥂🧡👫🏻
