On behalf of all Hurtigruten employees, we would like to express our deepest condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty Queen Sonja, the Royal Family and the people of Norway. Throughout his long life, King Harald was a unifying figure for Norway and an important representative of our country, both at home and internationally.

“King Harald held a very special place in the hearts of the Norwegian people. For decades, he showed a genuine commitment to local communities, seafaring and Norway’s coastal heritage. For all of us at Hurtigruten, this is a profound loss. We remember a King who was close to his people and who helped bring the nation together through both good times and difficult ones,” says Hurtigruten CEO Hedda Felin.

🐾 Happy International Dog Day!

Today we’re celebrating the incredible dogs all over the world especially the ones who make our Arctic adventures unforgettable - including the friendly Alaskan huskies you’ll meet on our dog‑sledding excursions!

If dog sledding is on your winter bucket list, consider this your sign to book. Glide through snow‑covered forests and majestic mountains, feel the rush of the trail, and spend time with the huskies who love nothing more than leading the way.

Local food stories from Lofoten, Norway 🍲

Go behind the plate with Gisle Melhus and Åshild Jacobsen, the founders of Myklevik Gård, a sustainable farm located between the sea and mountains in Stamsund in Lofoten.

The team here work with hand-scale farming, carefully selecting garnishes, vegetables and herbs that are delivered to our ships just five minutes away at Stamsund harbour.

Our team at Norway’s Coastal Kitchen care deeply about cuisine that brings you closer to the the taste of Norway, supporting over 50 local farms, bakeries, and producers from across the country.

Reine is a must-see along Norway’s coast 🏔️

On the northbound journey of the Svalbard Line, guests have time to explore this picture-perfect fishing village and discover the dramatic landscapes that make the Lofoten Islands so special.

A gem of a fishing village perched on a rocky headland in the heart of the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway, Reine is surrounded by deep-blue fjords and towering mountains so pretty it was once voted the country’s most beautiful settlement. It’s also a wonderful base for experiencing the traditional coastal culture and natural beauty of Lofoten.

Five things to experience in and around Reine:

🥾 Hike Reinebringen for spectacular panoramic views over the village, fjords and surrounding peaks
🏘️ Explore Reine and discover its traditional fishing-village character and colourful rorbuer
🏖️ Visit the beaches of Lofoten, where white sand and turquoise water meet dramatic Arctic landscapes
🛶 Explore the fjords by kayak, getting closer to the mountains and coastline from the water
🍔 Sample the famed fish burgers at Anita’s Sjømat on Sakrisøy, made with fresh haddock, saithe and cod and served in a bun from nearby Kringla bakery

Which experience would you choose?

Arctic baptism aboard Hurtigruten 🧊

When new crew cross into Arctic waters for the first time, tradition demands a bucket of ice water over the head. A true Hurtigruten welcome!
