Nineteen days. Six destinations. Countless memories.

We’ve just returned from an incredible family adventure through Vietnam and, quite simply, we fell in love with this remarkable country.

From the energy of Ho Chi Minh City and the waterways of the Mekong Delta to the lantern-lit charm of Hoi An, the buzz of Hanoi, the dramatic scenery of Ninh Binh and the breathtaking beauty of Ha Long Bay, every stop offered something completely different.

Travelling with two teenage boys (18 and 16), we wanted a destination that would inspire all of us, and Vietnam delivered in every way. History, culture, adventure, delicious food, beautiful scenery and experiences we’ll never forget.

What stood out most wasn’t just the landscapes or fascinating history. It was the people. Everywhere we went, we were welcomed with warmth, kindness and genuine hospitality.

If there was one thing we missed, it was experiencing one of Vietnam’s iconic rail journeys. With just 19 days, we couldn’t fit everything in, but that simply gives us another reason to return.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more from each destination, along with practical tips and first-hand insights from our trip, helping you decide whether Vietnam should be on your own travel wish list.

One of the biggest advantages of working with a travel advisor?

I’ve usually been there… or I know someone who has.

Over the years I’ve travelled everywhere from South Africa and Singapore to Croatia, California, New York, Marrakech, Lapland and Australia. I’ve stayed in hotels that exceeded every expectation, and a few that looked amazing online but didn’t quite live up to the photos!

When I recommend a destination or a hotel, it’s based on real conversations, first-hand knowledge and honest feedback, because travel is personal, and helping people discover places they’ll fall in love with is still my favourite part of the job ✈️

Some hotels stop you scrolling.

Others have you mentally packing your suitcase before you’ve even finished watching the reel…

Calilo, on the Greek island of Ios, is definitely one of those places.

Tucked away above a secluded bay, it has the kind of peaceful, understated luxury that’s becoming harder and harder to find. It’s stylish without trying too hard, incredibly private and somewhere you could genuinely switch off for a week.

I can already think of a few clients I’d recommend this spectacular hotel to - and this is exactly why I love discovering hotels.

There are so many hidden gems beyond the destinations everyone already knows - you just need someone like me to find them for you!

A journey I'll never forget ✨

In 2018, my husband and I travelled aboard the Venice Simplon Orient Express from Venice to London and it remains one of the most memorable travel experiences I've ever had.

🚂 Stunning scenery across Europe

🍽️ Incredible dining (including lobster loaded onto the train that very morning in Paris!)

🛏️ Surprisingly comfortable traditional cabins

✨ Impeccable service throughout

What I loved most was that the journey became the destination. For 24 hours, we slowed down, relaxed and simply enjoyed the experience.
