Some places stop you in your tracks. Ballyfin is one of them. 🍀
Built in 1826 to designs by Richard and William Vitruvius Morrison for Sir Charles Coote, this neoclassical mansion set at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in County Laois, Ireland has lived many lives – and now, after an extraordinary restoration, it is our absolute favourite Irish country estate. Just 21 rooms, 614 acres, and with a 28-acre lake at its heart.
The history doesn’t sit behind glass here – it runs deep in the rooms, the corridors, and the stories the staff carry with them. All best enjoyed while sipping Champagne after breakfast in a horse-drawn carriage, followed by falconry on the lawn, and dinner in the State Dining Room. A team that remembers every name on arrival and packs pastries for your journey back to the airport without being asked. 🥂🥐🙏
For our clients heading to Ireland, this is the kind of place that earns its place at the centre of an itinerary – not as a one night stop, but as a destination in its own right.
