True Story Tuesday

It happened on a sheep farm in Northern Ireland.

As our group was preparing to leave Glenshane Country Farm, I suddenly realized I'd left my purse behind.

I approached our host, Jamese, and said:

"Oh, I believe I left my handbag in your sheep barn. May I run out there and get it?"

He absolutely lost it and repeated it back to me in the most hilarious Southern accent you've ever heard:

"I believe I left my handbag in your sheep barn!" *twang!*

Then he grinned and said, "I could listen to you talk all day."

I laughed and replied, "Right back at you."

When we travel, we spend so much time admiring what makes a place special. The accents. The traditions. The people. The things that feel delightfully different from home.

What we sometimes forget is that the people we meet are seeing us through the same lens.

To Jamese, I was the one with the interesting accent.

Those little moments of connection are part of what makes travel so meaningful. You leave with wonderful memories, a broader perspective, and sometimes the realization that what feels ordinary to you might be fascinating to someone else.

And yes, I did retrieve my purse from the sheep barn. (Where I had, of course, dropped it while trying to get my hands on a baby lamb!)

The Open is returning to St Andrews in 2027!

For golf fans, it doesn't get much bigger than the Home of Golf.

I may be a little biased, but 2027 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year in one of my favorite corners of the world, with The Open returning to St Andrews and the Ryder Cup coming to Ireland later in the year.

Hospitality packages for The Open are now available, and I have access to options that can be paired with a custom Scotland itinerary.

If experiencing St Andrews during The Open is something you've always wanted to do, now is a good time to start the conversation.

Send me a message and let's schedule a time to chat about the possibilities.

True Story Tuesday
One of my clients is on the way to Europe today, and let's just say the travel day did not go according to plan.
Flights were delayed. Connections changed. Arrival got pushed later and later.
Originally, they were going to land tired, figure out transportation at the airport, arrive late to the hotel, and then get up early the next morning for a tour that suddenly looked a lot less fun.
So while they were in the air, I went to work.
Because of the flight changes, I arranged a driver to meet them at the airport, alerted the hotel that they would be arriving late and confirmed that was not a problem, and worked with the tour company to move their morning tour to the afternoon so they can actually get some rest.
By the time they land, the goal is simple: no scrambling, no stress, and no trying to solve problems from an airport gate.
This is one of those parts of travel advising that people don't always think about first when they decide to work with an advisor. The planning and the bookings are important, of course, but so is having someone who's got your back when travel plans suddenly take an unexpected turn.
And we all know how often that can happen.
Airlines, I'm looking at you. šŸ˜‰
These are exactly the kinds of puzzles I love helping people solve.

A little reminder that ordinary Saturdays can look very different.
