Singapore is one of those places I keep going back to, and my latest week there reminded me exactly why.
We flew via Doha with Qatar Airways and spent a “relaxing” 7 days in the Lion City, clocking up 43 miles on foot. Highlights included wandering the UNESCO‑listed Botanic Gardens, feasting at Lau Pa Sat and Newton hawker centres, and getting caught in the rain in Chinatown on Chinese New Year’s Day, surrounded by lanterns, colour and celebrations.
We made the most of Singapore’s easy MRT when walks were a bit too far, explored the vibrant Arab Street and Haji Lane area with its street art and indie boutiques, and spent evenings around Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, watching the Supertrees light up against the skyline. Shopping fans are spoiled too, from Orchard Road’s glossy malls to stylish centres around Marina Bay.
To finish, we checked into The Fullerton in a Straits Club room and paid a visit to iconic Raffles Hotel for a dose of classic elegance. For me, Singapore blends incredible food, culture, easy getting around, great shopping and effortless luxury in one compact, very walkable city.
If you would like to turn Singapore into your next city break or stopover, get in touch and I will design a trip tailored to you.
