It’s a wonderful reminder that travel isn't just about seeing somewhere beautiful…
sometimes it's about being there for a moment that happens only at a very special time of year.

Imagine standing among thousands of visitors in Mexico, watching an ancient pyramid seemingly come alive before your eyes…

Welcome to Chichén Itzá, the extraordinary Mayan city and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Built over centuries, Chichén Itzá became one of the most important Maya centres in the Yucatán. Its temples, pyramids and observatory reveal just how advanced the Maya were in mathematics, astronomy and architecture.
🌞 But here's where the mystery really begins…

The famous pyramid of Kukulcán – El Castillo – wasn't simply built to impress.
Its design creates a remarkable relationship with the movement of the sun. Around the equinoxes, the sunlight creates an eerie shadow forming the shape of a snake wriggling down the pyramid's northern staircase. As the sun moves lower, the triangles appear to connect with the carved serpent's head at the bottom — creating the extraordinary illusion of a serpent descending the pyramid. 🐍

The Maya associated this serpent with Kukulcán, and the phenomenon is interpreted as a symbolic descent connected with fertility and the agricultural cycle.
⭐ And it isn't the only astronomical mystery…

Nearby stands El Caracol, the famous circular observatory. Archaeologists have identified a number of astronomical alignments throughout Chichén Itzá, involving the Sun, Venus and other celestial events. UNESCO describes the site as a remarkable demonstration of the Maya understanding of the universe.
And remember… they achieved this incredible architecture without modern machinery, metal tools or pack animals. The precision of their construction remains astonishing.

The equinox attracts big crowds!
There's something rather magical about seeing thousands of people gathered in anticipation, many choosing to wear white for the occasion, waiting for the ancient Maya's celestial spectacle to appear. 🤍☀️

Thousands of years of history. Ancient astronomical knowledge. A Mayan mystery that still fascinates us today.

Ever wondered what you actually get for your money when you move up the cabin?

🪑 ECONOMY CLASS
The standard way to fly. You’ll have your own seat, inflight entertainment on many long-haul flights, meals and drinks depending on the airline and route. Seats are usually the most compact, with limited legroom and recline.

✨ PREMIUM ECONOMY
A step up in comfort without the price tag of business class. You’ll generally get a wider seat, more legroom, greater recline, improved dining and enhanced service. Some airlines also include priority check-in or baggage benefits.

🥂 BUSINESS CLASS – TURN LEFT! ⬅️
