The person in this photo had no idea what was coming next.
I was sat in the car leaving the office having just been made redundant after more than 20 years in the same industry. If I'm honest, I felt a bit lost.

I didn't know what the next chapter would look like.
I didn't know what opportunities would come my way.
And I certainly didn't think I'd end up involved in the travel industry šŸ˜†

At the time, all I knew was that life suddenly felt very different to how I'd imagined it.

Looking back now, redundancy was one of those moments that forced me to be more open-minded.

Since then, I've started businesses I never expected to start, met people I would never otherwise have met, travelled more than I thought possible and created additional income streams alongside everything else I do.

It hasn't always been easy, but it has reminded me of something important...
Sometimes the things that feel like the end of one chapter are actually the beginning of another.

If you'd told me then what the next few years would look like, I honestly wouldn't have believed you.

And for that, I'm incredibly grateful 🄰

"So what do I actually do?" šŸ˜†

It's a question I get asked quite a lot! Right now, I do this alongside everyday life, family, friends and my other work commitments.

And the reality is... I wasn't looking to start a travel business at all!

Stuart and I had been talking about how we'd love to travel more. Myla is getting older now and we kept saying the same thing... life is short... we want to make memories while we can!

When I first came across this, I was interested in how people were earning from travel, but what really caught my attention was the possibility of travelling more and travelling smarter ourselves.

Fast forward a year and it's become so much more than I expected.

We've travelled more than ever, I've learned so much about the travel industry, I've met some genuinely lovely people and I've been able to create an additional income stream alongside everything else I already do.

I've also helped other people take a look at it for themselves and decide whether it might be something they'd enjoy too.

Looking back, I'm really glad I said yes to finding out a little bit more because if there's one thing I've learned over the last year, it's that sometimes the things that scare us the most can end up being some of the best decisions we make.

I certainly didn't have all the answers when I started.

I was simply curious enough to find out more

One of the biggest things that nearly stopped me starting was thinking I needed to know what I was doing first šŸ˜†

I assumed everyone else would already understand the travel industry and I'd be the one asking silly questions.

The reality couldn't have been more different...

When I joined, I knew very little about hotels, suppliers, destinations or how any of it worked behind the scenes but what I've discovered over the last year is that nobody expects you to know everything.

You learn as you go.

There are people choosing to start this journey every single day, all from different backgrounds and with different levels of experience.

If you need help, there's training available.
If you have a question, there's always someone willing to answer it.

And perhaps most importantly, you have a community of people around you who have all been exactly where you are.

No question is too silly.
No one expects perfection.
And there's always somebody willing to help.

Looking back now, I think I spent far more time worrying about what I didn't know than I ever needed to šŸ˜…

Sometimes you don't need all the answers before you start. You just need to be willing to learn and trust yourself to figure things out along the way āœˆļøšŸ„°

I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that people assume you suddenly have to do everything all at once…

One thing I didn’t realise before I started this was that there isn’t just one way to do it.

The reality is, most of us are just normal people fitting it around everyday life, full-time jobs and family life.

Some people just book their own personal travel.
Some people build huge businesses.
Some people focus on booking holidays for others.
Some people love the social side and community.

For me, in the situation I’m currently in, it’s become a mixture of all sorts of things…
travel, experiences, extra income, lovely people and opportunities I genuinely didn’t know existed before āœˆļø

And honestly… I think that flexibility is one of the reasons more and more people are starting to look at it 🄰

Postcards from Ibiza ā˜€ļøšŸŒŠ

A few little moments from our unexpected trip to Ibiza…

✨ Cala Vadella sunsets
✨ wandering around Dalt Vila
✨ long relaxed lunches
✨ beautiful hotels
✨ sea views
✨ switching off properly for a few days

I think this trip reminded me how much I love a mix of exploring and slowing down these days.

We definitely didn’t have enough time to see everything the island has to offer, and I’d absolutely go back if we ever got the chance ✨

For now though, I’m just really grateful we got to experience it… especially as this trip hadn’t been part of our plans for this year at all.

And of course, very grateful to MeliĆ” Hotels International for the opportunity

One thing I’ve realised as I’ve got older is that I travel differently now. I still love exploring new places and fitting lots into a trip… but I also really appreciate the slower moments too.

This week has actually been a really lovely balance of both. šŸŒž šŸ„‚

One day we ended up staying in Cala Vadella far longer than we planned because we were enjoying it so much ā˜€ļøšŸŒŠ

The next we were wandering around Ibiza Town and Dalt Vila exploring for the day.

I think nowadays I appreciate the atmosphere, the little moments and how places make me feel just as much as the sightseeing itself

We only planned to come to Cala Vadella for a few hours today… but we’re so chilled here that I think we may end up staying for sunset too ā˜€ļøšŸŒŠ

I definitely think this is my favourite kind of travel these days… slowing down, switching off and just enjoying where you are 🄰🄰

A year ago today, I started my travel business… and honestly, I had absolutely no idea where it would lead.

At the time, I just thought it sounded interesting. If it meant we could travel more and travel a bit smarter, then I figured… why not give it a go?

I didn’t know I’d end up:
āœˆļø learning so much about the travel industry
āœˆļø booking travel for other people
āœˆļø making some genuinely lovely friends
āœˆļø helping other people start their own travel businesses too
āœˆļø or winning things like a trip to Ibiza šŸ˜…

It definitely hasn’t all happened overnight, and I still juggle it alongside work, family life and everything else…

…but looking back now, I’m really glad I said yes to it.

It’s opened up a whole world I genuinely didn’t know existed before… and along the way we’ve saved ££££s and travelled more than ever too 🄰
