With another long term contract looming we have a surfacing supervisory roles available based from our office in Pinner, Middlesex.

Job Description:-
As a Supervisor you will be responsible for planning and organising of resources including labour and plant to safely achieve maximum efficiency and output. You will have responsibility for ensuring the Health and Safety and quality standards of the company are met and clients expectations are exceeded.

Key Responsibilities
• Direct individual foremen, planning future workload to meet the targets of the contract plan and monitoring production
• Day to day co-ordination and supervision of direct labour and sub-contractors
• Place timely and accurate orders for materials and plant to ensure efficient production balancing cost against client value and adherence to standards
• Management and allocation of resources including plant, equipment and vehicles
• Completing daily diaries and returning at the end of each visit.
Include copy of dims, supply problems and waiting time
• Report observations and near hits and assist with incident investigation and root cause analysis ensuring the corrective actions have been completed and closed out
• Complete a site-specific risk assessment and site packs ensuring that appropriate control measures can be implemented to complete the work safely
• Ensure that all plant checks are completed
• Deliver Toolbox Talk's and briefings
• Communicate daily with customer and Contract Management to ensure project is completed within timeline

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate focus and determination to achieve successful outcomes. Take the initiative, overcome obstacles and the ability to drive and motivate the site team.

Experience

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Supervisor who has extensive operational experience within asphalt surfacing and a can demonstrate an excellent knowledge of asphalt materials.

We are now looking for a full time SHEQ Manager on a permanenet basis. This is a standalone role who will report to both the Managing and Operational Directors and support a workforce of approx..80 personnel, comprising of a workshop, site and office workers. You would also provide SHEQ support in relation to sub-contractors working on our projects.

Main Duties

Advise on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the company complies with its statutory obligations.
​Prepairing merhod statements and risk assessments.
​Attend site meetings as required.
​Represent the business at client H&S meetings.
​Chair monthly H&S management meetings.
​Ensure all employees are appropriately trained and competent in their roles along with maintaining the matrix.
​Company inductions and refreshers.
​Undertake site audits and safety management of sub-contractors.
​Maintain all company accreditations and support annual audits.
​
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individualwho is able to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the buisness.

You must have Nebosh general or construction certificate, and a background in construction health and safety. A degree in a relevant health and safety discipline would be advantageous.

Memebership of IOSH is essential at Technical level or above.

Exciting opportunity to join O’Haras Bros Surfacing Ltd.

We are an established family contracting business that is currently in its 50th year seeking an experienced Transport Manager or a Transport Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join our mangement team.

We are looking for someone with experience in managing a fleet of HGVs, light commercial vehicles, and plant machinery operating at FORS silver level; but we are also open to candidates who wish to develop their skills further and work towards becoming a qualified Transport Manager.

About Us:
• Over 50 years of experience in the road surfacing industry.
• A fleet of 30 HGVs, including 32t grabs, tippers, gully suckers, road sweepers, and wagon & drag vehicles.
• 40 vans, including Transit Connects, Transit Dropsides, and Panel Vans.
• A range of plant machinery, including Dynapac Pavers, Wirtgen Planers, JCBs, Excavators (3t to 21t), and various rollers.
• In-house workshop supported by two experienced mechanics for ongoing maintenance and repairs.
• We are a FORS Silver-certified company.

Position Overview:
This is a full-time role, responsible for overseeing the fleet of vehicles and plant, ensuring compliance with transport regulations, and managing the day-to-day operations of the transport department. The successful candidate will play a key role in driver management, fleet maintenance, and supporting the growth and development of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
• Managing driver compliance and ensuring adherence to company policies and legislation.
• Overseeing the maintenance and operation of the fleet of vehicles and plant.
• Supervising and supporting the in-house workshop and mechanics.
• Planning and implementing fleet services and testing schedules.
• Managing the company’s bulk fuel supplies.
• Analyzing tachograph data and ensuring compliance.
• Supporting driver recruitment and managing driver training and development programs.
• Managing FORS compliance and ensuring all certifications and accreditations are maintained.
• Managing the O Licence and ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

Hours:
• Monday to Friday: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.

O’Hara Bros are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work on our contracts across Buckinghamshire and North London. The commercial function is a key role within the company structure.

Key Responsibilities
• Commercial lead on contracts (and projects)
• Understanding and communication of the commercial strategy across the contract
• Responsibility for the timely submission of applications for payments and invoices
• Maximising value entitlement under the contract
• Management of change control and valuation of change
• Preparation and agreement of new rates and prices (from first principles if required)
• Site measurement
• Preparation and updating of works programme
• Procurement and management of subcontractors and supply chain
• Agreement of supply chain final accounts
• Monthly cost / value reconciliations and financial reporting
• Cost management across the contract
• Management of work in progress and debt (cash collection)

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
A strong background in the quantity surveying is required as well as a good working knowledge of the highways maintenance industry is required as is excellent numeracy, IT, and communication skills. Management of key contractual relationships at all levels are vital and individuals must represent business professionalism and ethical behaviours throughout.

He was one of our best, multi skilled operatives and an integral figure within one of our surfacing gangs.

It was a beautiful service and the perfect goodbye.

It is with great sadness that we wish to share the passing of one of our team; Cristian Wadman. Cristian sadly passed away on the morning of Friday 15th December.

Cristian was born on 4th November 1977 (46 Years Old) in Baia Mare, Romania. He Moved to the United Kingdom in the early 2000s searching for a better life and to start a family.

Cristian or known to others as Cristi, Pat, Patrick or Pauric had spent the past 12 years working at O'Hara Bros Surfacing Ltd as part of the well known and highly respected ‘Roby Brady gang’

He was an integral figure within the gang and multi talented with the ability to drive the Paver, Roller and JCB. He was also a competent Screwman and Rakehand. He was always willing to help anyone out and will now be a huge loss to our business, the gang and our foreman Roby.

With the financial burden this will leave his wife and 3 children at this very difficult and tragic time, a go fund me page has been set up.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Environment, Quality, Health & Safety Manager (SHEQ) to provide a high quality Health & Safety service to protect our employees, sub-contractors and clients in line with the overall company objectives. The role, will be to lead the SHEQ across the business covering London and the South East.

In this role you will be responsible for:

-Auditing active sites to monitor and maintain Health & Safety standards
-Attending Pre-start Safety meetings and monthly safety meetings
-Monitoring and maintaining Safety Accreditation's
-Conducting accident/incident investigations
-Providing the Construction Phase Plans and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
-Assisting in creating Health and Safety policies and site-based management systems where required
-Induction delivery

To be considered for this role the successful Health & Safety Manager (H&S) will ideally have the following background and experience:

-A proven track record in Health & Safety Management in the Civils and Construction Industry, ideally within the rail / heavy civils sector.
-NEBOSH Construction Certificate / IOSH membership or working towards chartered status
-Experienced in the design and delivery of safety training programmes
-Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
-Team management experience.
-Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to convey guidelines and reports effectively
