Par Avion Journal

Par Avion Journal The worlds first alternative online travel journal - made by travellers, for travellers. We are Par Avion Journal! Real. Gritty. Unashamedly unkempt!

Home to the worldwide community of creative travellers. A place for all to showcase, share and collaborate with other like minded creative folk across the planet. If regular travel sites are a MacBook Air and matching set of hard-shell roller luggage, Par Avion Journal is a dog eared notebook stuffed inside a tattered backpack. Your haven for strange stories, snaps, pictures and inspiration. Recou

nted with the pen, the pencil, the camera, or whatever else was close to hand in that moment of inspiration, insanity or retrospection.

A letter from the road, to a friend: "I’m glad to hear you are successfully navigating the corporate world. Riding schindlers lift to your office in the sky. The golden gilded cubicles of commerce. The faint, muted tapping of high heels on colourless carpet. The constant odour of fear and money colliding and swirling like a vortex through empty meeting rooms. The strange allure of three day old filter coffee. And the low hum of high impact service station forecourt lighting - warming you through frosted plastic, like some sort of terrarium lizard in a well pressed suit"

Down and out in Madrid. Light like a service station forecourt. The neighbour watches spaghetti westerns late into the night. I lay on a plastic squab and lock eyes with the devil, he stares back, a sanguine face drawn in black pen on a rotten pillow, stuffed in a hole in the ceiling •

Further to my last communiqué, I have taken steps to address the misgivings Miss Hadfield has about our intended trip to the outer islands. My assurances that the vessel is a sound one were received through rolled eyes, which is fair enough, as you and I both know 'sound' is not a truthful description of that porous barque. Nevertheless our departure date grows ever closer, and I fear preparations are far from complete - although as you well know, under preparation has always been my modus operandi. •

Many people have said, Henry, Quinoa Diaries is one of the worst review blogs on the Internet today. It’s a real piece of gutter trash. The writing is self-indulgent and there is neither rhyme nor reason to the variety of places you frequent.

This accompanying sketch is based on a photo from one of my many nights out in the Pembrokeshire region of Wales. My first weekend discovering the local Milford Haven nightlife is summarised below. So let’s start from the beginning…
