I just had to post this short video of the raft of sea otters I saw today whilst out whale watching from Tofino. The whale video will follow tomorrow.
There is so much great wildlife in this part of the world and my phone camera just doesn't do it justice.

Day 2 started with a bald eagle flying over head when we were having breakfast so you know it is going to be a good day!
This was followed by a walk at Elk Falls a park funded by a hydro electric power company.
The main feature of the day was a bear watching trip operated by a First Nations backed company Homalco Tours, so we not only learned about Grizzly Bears but about the culture and language of the indigenous people. We travelled an hour and a half by boat to Bute Inlet spotting a Humpback Whale and a pod of Orca on the way. Once at Orford Bay we visited numerous viewing points and towers before we spotted the lone female grizzly who seemed oblivious to our presence.
We also saw an elk, some stellar jays and a turkey vulture. On the boat journey back we also saw dolphins and more whales. What a great day!

Wow! What an amazing first 24 hours.
After landing at just after 7pm local time and spending a night at the Sheraton Wall Centre we too a 10 am Seair Seaplane flight from Vancouver Harbour to Nanaimo giving us great views of Stanley Park as well as a couple of whales!
We collected our hire car and headed up the coast to Campbell River following the Oceanside Route with various raptors flying above us. We had our second wildlife experience when we stopped at Oyster River Potholes for a walk, and in my case a swim, and swan salmon spawning!
We arrived at Painters Lodge, our home for the next 2 nights, and after settling in to our room wandered down to the deck at around 5.30pm for a drink and whilst enjoying the scenery spotted at least 2 seals and a whale as well as a number of different sea birds. The hotel has a marine centre and such sightings are not uncommon. Roll on day 2!

It has been some years since I last visited Disneyland Paris (my son was 5 and he is now 33) but it is still a firm favourite with my clients with two new enquiries this week alone.
