Anglesey Masonry Ltd

Anglesey Masonry Ltd We are a firm of Stonemasons working out of our own Quarry in Anglesey. Our Grey Carboniferous Limestone has been used in building since the 19th Century.

It is a very good match for Penmon Limestone which was used extensively across Britain, two notable examples of which are the Bridges to Anglesey. We have full workshop facilities at our site for primary and secondary sawing and also polishing. Our time served stone masons also have experience in hand-working stone (using traditional methods). We can supply our stone for all kinds of applications, and we can deliver anywhere to mainland United Kingdom.

Defnyddio dull milenia oed I dorri craig 350 miliwn oed. Dwi just yn damio na fysa'r tywydd cystal a'r tywydd trofannol fel pan grëwyd y graig.

Using a millenia old method to split stone that's 350 million years old. Just wish we were still in the tropical climate it was laid in!

These blocks are from the top of the quarry. 20,000 years ago during the peak of the last ice age a huge glacier (almost a kilometer tall!) was moving southwards from Scotland. The ice sheet scraped and flattened the limestone, leaving scratches marking the direction of glacial movement, if you ignore the JCB bucket marks!

Just a small reminder of the journey Anglesey limestone has taken before arriving at your home.

Mae’r blociau hyn o ben y chwarel. 20,000 o flynyddoedd yn ôl, yn ystod uchafbwynt yr oes iâ ddiwethaf, roedd rhewlif enfawr (bron i gilomedr o uchder!) yn symud tua’r de o’r Alban. Crafodd a chreu gwyneb fflat ar y calchfaen, gan adael crafiadau yn nodi cyfeiriad symudiad y rhewlifoedd, os anwybyddwch olion y bwced JCB!

Dim ond atgof bach o’r daith y mae calchfaen Ynys Môn wedi’i chymryd cyn cyrraedd eich cartref.
