Not every city break has to be the “obvious” choice. Some are all about food, some are for outdoorsy types, some are just great fun to wander with no big agenda.
Here are 5 cities I’m loving at the moment: who they suit, when to go and a few ideas of what to do while you are there. Save this for later and message me when you are ready to start planning your next escape.

Vancouver is such a good all‑rounder: harbour, mountains, beaches and loads of green space, all wrapped up in a really easy city. You can be walking the seawall in the morning, on the beach or up a mountain in the afternoon and somewhere buzzy for dinner by the water in the evening.
It works as a stand‑alone city break or as the starting point for a longer Canada itinerary. If you fancy linking Vancouver with Vancouver Island, w**e country or Whistler, I can map it all out for you.

If you love Italian food, Bologna is one of those places you could happily spend a weekend just eating and pottering. Think morning coffee under the porticoes, a wander through the markets, a long lunch and an Aperol in a busy square.
For coeliacs it can work really well with the right planning, so you still get that “proper Italy” feel without the stress. I can help with the best areas to stay, train connections and restaurant ideas that suit your needs.

Copenhagen has that quietly cool feel that makes it perfect for a 2–3 night escape. You can wander along the harbour, hop on a boat, spend an afternoon in Tivoli and then end the day in a little w**e bar or bistro.
It is stylish without being hectic and very easy to get around. I can help with central boutique hotels and the kind of small touches that make a short break feel special.

New York always feels a bit like walking into a film set. One day you are on the High Line eating from a food truck, the next you are in Central Park and then dressed up for a Broadway show. It is full‑on in the best possible way.

Transylvania, Prague, Salem/Boston and Mexico; three very different ways to enjoy chills, cobbles and candlelight.

Dracula country.

Medieval towns, misty hills and stories straight from the pages of gothic novels. Base yourself in Brașov or Sibiu, wander cobbled streets and soak up the old world atmosphere tucked between the Carpathian Mountains.

Spend your days exploring Bran Castle, Râșnov Fortress or Peleș Castle, then cost up in local w**e bars and family run restaurants at night. Perfect for anyone who loves folklore, dramatic landscapes and a slower pace.

Fairytale by day.

Prague serves up pastel facades, church spires and riverside views in every direction. Stroll the castle district, wander the Old Town and cross Charles Bridge as the lights come on over the Vltava.

Ghost stories by night.

As the sun goes down the city slips into storytelling mode with legends and ghost tours, narrow alleys and hidden courtyards. Ideal if you like your spooky season with a strong side of romance and good food.

Halloween central.

Salem is pure Halloween energy; with trial history, quirky museums, costume parades and pumpkin-lined streets. Stay in the heart of town so you can walk to everything and really feel the buzz.

History with a twist.

Add a couple of nights in Boston for Freedom Trail history, brownstone neighbourhoods and harbour walks before or after your Salem stay. It’s a great mono if you want a bigger trip with plenty of atmosphere.

Day of the dead.

Not spooky in the Halloween sense. It is a beautiful, vibrant way to on our loved ones. Expect marigolds, candles, sugar skulls and altars filled with photos and favourite foods.

Choose a base such as Oaxaca or Mexico City and experience processions, music and markets respectfully with local guides. This one is all about culture, family and remembrance, with incredible food and a lot of heart.

Whether you are drawn to Dracula legends, gothic cities, full on Halloween or the colour and meaning of Day of the Dead I can put together a trip that matches your style and pace.

• Temperature: Around 22–26°C during the day, and 14–18°C at night.
• Sea temperature: Still warm — about 22–23°C, great for swimming!
• Rain: Occasional light rain, but mostly sunny or partly cloudy days.
