Heading out for a Navigation Club day in the Cairngorms. The reindeer came over to visit us as we were practising pacings and bearings, important skills when navigating and which are best practised regularly rather than trying to remember what to do in a situation where it really matters!
The group were also introduced to some new concepts, such as aiming off (deliberately navigating to one side of a precise point on a linear feature so you know whether to go right or left when you reach the feature).

Another great day out, with a lovely family from the USA. They had requested a day in the Cairngorms, pre fire. Fortunately the ski road reopened 2 days before their visit, and we were able to head up Craiggowrie and Creagan Gorm above Badaguish. We were blessed with stunning wood ant hills, rare bilberry bumblebees, and a very slow moving lizard (on account of it being only a degree above Baltic).

We also had views of some of the extensive fire damage, which is just heartbreaking to see, but may just possibly lead to folk from both sides of the rewilding Vs traditional land management divide coming together to work on best practice in light of ongoing climate change.

Anyway, my clients had a great day, topped off with looking for old broken glass on Loch Morlich beach, which has a very interesting story attached to it.

Co guiding with my good friend Gaby Skylark Guiding Ltd on a 2 day trip in Perthshire. We were blessed with a delightful group, and good weather, although it was chilly on the summit of Ben Vrackie - the group were introduced to the Scottish need to carry sunhats and woolly hats, warm clothes and sunscreen 😊
