🐾Keep your dog on lead at ALL times
🐶Choose the route most sensible for your dogs’ fitness levels. Take regular rest breaks and don’t push their limits.
🐾Remember to get their dog medal - and you can also purchase an official dog bandana!
🐶Pack plenty of water!💦

🐶Be aware that livestock will be present at times - always have your dog under full control🐑
🐾Pick up those poops!💩
🐶Check their paws regularly! Terrain can be uneven and cuts and scrapes can happen, and some dogs are also prone to irritation from certain vegetation or chalky surfaces.

Yesterday’s RSPCA Great Isle of Wight Dog Walk event was a huge success! 🐾🐶 The sun was shining, there were treats aplenty thanks to wonderful stall displays from local businesses, and everywhere you looked there were beautiful dogs 🐕

We could only stay for a short while but managed to snap a few pooches whilst watching the Fun Dog Show - I have no idea how a judge can choose, they were all such worthy winners! 🏆

🗓️This Sunday! Join The Great Isle of Wight Dog Walk in aid of for a fun-filled day of adventure!

Highlights will include:

🏆A Fun Dog Show with classes only £3 to enter
🛍️Stalls and Displays
🌲And of course, the main event is a beautiful 3 mile scenic walk from Wootton to Havenstreet via Briddlesford Woods!🌲

One for your calendars! 🗓️ 🏆

Our popular 'Fun Dog Show' will be returning this year! Sponsored by Rex's Range. Our area lead, Phil Cracknell, has been busy organising the event.

If you would like to enter your 4 legged friend, you can sign up on the show days, and you are welcome to enter into as many classes as you would like.

The 'Fun Dog Show' will be at 1:30pm on both show days!

Each entry is £3, and our current classes are:
Best Cross Breed, Best Pedigree, Best Rescue Dog, Best Puppy Under 12 Months, Best Condition Coat Long/rough, Best Condition Coat Short/smooth, Prettiest Bitch, Most Handsome Dog, Waggiest Tail, Prettiest Eyes, Best Looking 6 Legs, and Dog Most Like Owner!

Quarr Abbey is an underrated gem on the Isle of Wight! 💎

🗺️Easily accessible via the number 9 bus route, whether you have travelled to the island via car or on foot, you can enjoy a wander around this free-to-visit location.

🌲There are beautiful surrounding walks in both directions, so if your dog needs longer walks than what the Abbey grounds can offer, you can extend your trip towards Fishbourne or Binstead where they can even enjoy a swim 🌊

📝Worth Noting?
The cafe is only dog-friendly outside, and you need to go inside to order, so if you are a solo visitor then be aware you will either need to secure them outside, or forgo a drink! The farm shop however is fully dog-friendly and sells ice creams during summer, and little snacks like chocolate throughout the year.

Morning Islanders/Island visitors! 🥰It’s another brisk winters day! ❄️ If you’re looking for something festive but dog friendly to do today - has a wonderful Christmas pop-up shop in their barn, along with festive food & drink, open fires and a lovely photo-op! 🍷🎄

We recommend taking the dog for a walk in the surrounding farm fields first, then soaking up the atmosphere in the shops & cafe ✨If you want an even bigger walk, you can bus/drive to Arreton Barns and follow the trail that leads along to the Garlic Farm! It took us just over half and hour and is lovely and scenic (albeit muddy!)

Another festive experience worth visiting this weekend is Hosting Santa Paws! 🧑‍🎄🎅 We’ve yet to go but hope to pop in tomorrow to support them!

📣Sorry for the silence all! It’s been a busy year, but I’ve finally managed to access my old computer hard drive so can start pulling some content off of there to share with you all!💚

Today’s post is just a quick shout out to celebrate for recently winning the Isle of woof award! 🥇We stayed there last Autumn and were blown away by all of the little touches they’ve put in place to make sure your pet is treated just like any other member of the family!

If you or a family member are planning a trip to the island, this would be our top pick for accommodation! And if you’re a local - did you know they offer a wonderful doggy afternoon tea? ☕️🍰

Why not treat yourself to lunch before a nice walk through the old village and down to Luccombe Bay where the dogs can run, dig and swim until their heart’s content? ☀️🌊
