It's and it's a great opportunity to say how proud we are of our 3 apprentices. Engineering apprenticeships are crucial, because they offer experience and an all-important foot into the Engineering industry.

We currently have three apprentices, Connor and James, who are currently gaining knowledge in Manufacturing and Tom who is expanding his skill set in the design office.

STEM apprenticeships are especially important, as this is an area where skills are particularly in demand, with programs looking to encourage more STEM apprenticeships among women and people from more diverse backgrounds.

At PPI Engineering, all our apprentices have the opportunity to train and gain experience in an extremely niche field of engineering.

Our company offers training within the design, development and manufacture of high voltage electric motors and generators, and our apprentices acquire a wide range of practical and theoretical skills associated with the production of these machines.

Last night Paul Ward presented a short case study of local companies at The Ogden Trust event, which demonstrated the symbiotic relationship, between firms and work placement students.

He highlighted how these mutually beneficial relationships add value to company projects, which enable students to gain industry experience, which will help them in the future whether it is for getting a new role or going to university.

He also presented an overview of the work done by PPI Engineering’s work placement student, Joel Trotter.
Joel researched a new solution to improve insulation using 3D printing, and he impressed the company with his findings.

Mike Robinson, Director of PPI Engineering Ltd commented, “It makes us incredibly proud, that we are able to offer projects, that can help students prepare for life after college. Not only does it help them seek new solutions, but it also gives them an opportunity to work on real projects, which they can use as experience to enter our industry. PPI Engineering operates in a sector which is experiencing a skill shortage, it is imperative for businesses to work with students, so we can ensure that an interest in Engineering is passed on to future generations”
