It’s not quite sunny Spain, but the weather’s nice here in Weston-super-Mare. The town sits on the second largest tidal range in the world, so at low tide the sea can disappear completely from view. Weston has one of the longest beaches in the UK, a traditional Grand Pier packed with amusements, and a classic British seaside feel.

Our final day in Spain!
We started the morning with an early game of padel tennis with friends — a hugely popular sport here in Spain and one that’s quickly growing back home in the UK too.

We’ve been coming to this part of Spain for a few years now, and yet we always find something new to see, try, or explore. That’s part of what keeps bringing us back!

It’s been a fantastic few weeks of sunshine and warm weather (sometimes a bit too warm!). If you’re after a peaceful, relaxing destination with beautiful walks, great restaurants, and friendly bars, we highly recommend Mil Palmeras and Torre de la Horadada.

Big thanks to everyone who shared tips and recommendations — you helped us make the most of every day.

After sharing our beach walk, a few of you asked where we started and which chiringuito we visited. So, on our next walk, we decided to film it! You can start the walk from either Manolos Mar or Del Puerto Chiringuito—both are easy to find on Google Maps.

When we stayed in beautiful Moraira we stayed at this fabulous little hotel. It was basic but was very comfortable and clean and the best thing was it was just £40 for the night.

s it really possible to stay in Moraira, Spain for just £40 a night? 😲 We found Casa Lilly, a simple and budget-friendly guesthouse just outside the centre ...

🌴 Glorious sunshine and calm, crystal-clear seas here in Mil Palmeras Spain today.
It’s the kind of day that makes beach walking an absolute joy — gentle waves, soft sand, and that peaceful feeling that only comes from being by the water.

Whether you’re an early morning walker or love a golden hour stroll, today is one of those perfect Mediterranean days that just lifts your spirits. We never get tired of this view. 💙🌊

The 20,000 Step Challenge (Sort Of...)

We decided to set ourselves a bit of a fitness challenge this week — 20,000 steps a day. The idea was simple: 10,000 steps early in the morning before it gets too hot, and the other 10,000 in the evening when it cools down.

In theory, brilliant.
In practice, the alarm went off at 8:30am… and we eventually got up at 10:30am. So much for beating the heat.

Still, we managed to get out and do our first 10,000 steps. It was a really lovely walk — for those who know the area, we set off near Pueblo Latino and walked to The Border Bar and back.

It was a bit of a slog in the heat, despite a decent breeze, so we’ve spent the afternoon being extremely lazy by the pool. We’re planning round two this evening… assuming we can be bothered to get up again.

Our daughter’s last evening with us tonight, so we decided to try Las Brisas Restaurant in Torre de la Horadada for the first time after hearing so many great recommendations. The seafood paella was absolutely fantastic, and Jo had the pasta, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We really couldn’t fault the place – both the food and service were excellent.

Feeling full, we took a stroll along Playa de las Higuericas and stopped for a drink at Chiringuito Pirata, where we watched the moon rise over the sea.. On the way back, we kicked off our shoes and paddled home along the shoreline.

A perfect end to our daughter’s final day here. 🌙💙

A Change of Plans – A Rainy Day Visit to Rojales ☁️🇪🇸

Yesterday was a bit of a cloudy one, so we swapped our beach plans for a visit to the small town of Rojales, around a 40-minute drive from Torre de la Horadada.

The town centre is fairly small, but it has a lovely river walk and a beautiful bridge, so we stopped for a coffee while we waited for the rain to pass. Once the skies cleared, we headed over to see the cave houses. Unfortunately, most of them were closed (possibly just a weekend thing?), but it was still worth a wander — quirky sculptures and creative touches made it an interesting little spot.

Next, we walked up to the Shell House, which looked really impressive from the outside, though we couldn’t go in as it was cash only – something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit.

With the sun finally out, we made our way back to the river for a short stroll before finishing the trip with a visit to the town’s small archaeological museum. Entry was free and there were a few interesting artefacts to take in.

On our way hame we stopped off at Rebate restaurant which is set in some beautiful grounds. If you fancy food and Flamenco dancing in a beautiful Spanish setting, then it's worth visiting on a Sunday or Wednesday.

All in all, a nice way to spend a few hours and a good alternative if the weather puts your beach day on hold. Worth a visit if you fancy doing something a bit different!

We had a fantastic morning walking the 10,000-step route in Los Alcázares. The day started at one of our favourite spots for breakfast — San Antonio — which also offers incredibly well-priced Menú del Día lunches €11.99 and evening meals for just €9.99. It’s a great place to sit and relax, and there’s usually a nice cooling breeze.

After breakfast and coffee, we set off on the route, which takes you along the seafront with beautiful views across the Mar Menor. We made a quick stop at the halfway point for a drink, then followed the route back — this time paddling through the sea, which was extremely warm and full of the usual 'friendly' jellyfish drifting near the shore.

We finished up at Armonia Beach Club, another lovely spot and a great place to stop for lunch.
