What to expect when the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) comes into force in less than three months’ time!

The EU has confirmed the EES will start from 12 October, and the phased implementation will last until 9 April 2026. From 10 April 2026, EES will be fully operational at all EU borders.

At the same time, it emerged the cost of the EU European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) visa-waiver will rise from €7 (£6) to €20 (£17) when it launches next year.

As countries across the EU will be adopting the system at different stages over the first six months, it is not yet clear which destinations will be first to adopt the technology and require British travellers to provide fingerprints and facial biometrics at first point of entry. We expect the EES to be a small addition to the process of travel and have minimal impact at the borders.

The EU confirmed earlier this year there will be a six-month transitional period for the introduction of the visa-waiver scheme (ETIAS), during which time Brits and other non-EU visitors will still be allowed entry without authorisation.

It's the 4th July !!

But not so great news out of the USA today

The US Congress has approved an increase in the visa waiver free, which is likely to take effect before the country co-hosts next year’s FIFA World Cup.
The ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) fee will rise from $21 to $40. An ESTA lasts for two years.
No date for the increase has been confirmed, but the bill approved by Congress will become law once it has been signed by President Donald Trump.

If you have a USA trip planned already or planning one soon, apply for your ESTA sooner rather than later
