Spring has definitely sprung and we're preparing for our April meeting.
In March we had an absolute ball with the chaps from Lothian Relics and Charity Digs who explained all about metal detecting. I for one did not expect it to be particularly interesting and not really my cup of tea...however I'm happy to admit I was completely wrong. ( first time in an otherwise flawless life 😉 )
It was excellent, really interesting and very enjoyable. They brought lots of their "finds" and told us all about the areas they've been and are going to. I have photos but sadly this is where my IT skills let me down and my flawless existence lie becomes obvious as I can't find them. I will post as soon as I can find where I safely filed them 🤨 What I will say is if metal detecting is something you've fancied trying definitely give it a go. They will give you a detector and a patch and off you go. They also have smaller equipment for children and you'll get a cuppa or a bowl of soup after.

Our next meeting is hosted by the ladies from Cranstoun on the 14th April in Pathhead Bowling Club, come along you'll be very welcome. Theres a talk from a lady about wool and who knows I may have even found the photos by then 😘

Come along to our next meeting Monday 10th March at 7pm in Pathhead Bowling Club.
It should be an interesting talk from the metal detector group. I’ve always wondered what they actually find.
Bring anything you’ve found regardless of what it is, you liked it enough to pick it up.
Ive seen them in the fields lots of times they’ve obviously seen me as they mention relic…how rude! 😂 See you on Monday

Photos from our birthday lunch in the Stair Arms.
The SWI has reached the grand old age of 107! It was a lovely afternoon with lots of chat and fabulous food. The Stair Arms staff were wonderful and accommodated us well as although we’d pre ordered most of us had forgotten what we’d ordered.
Why not come along to our next meeting on the 10th March in Pathhead bowling club. There will be a talk from a local group of metal detectorists and hopefully some of what they’ve found.
Anyway hope to see you on the 10th March and if you’ve ever been lucky enough to find anything interesting bring that with you.
I’d like to say I’d made that cake, it was delicious…but I’d be lying 🤥
