This is Kimmeridge Bay on Dorset’s Jurassic World Heritage Coast, 9 miles from us.

It is not a typical bathing beach as it doesn’t have any sand. However, it is well known for its rock pooling, canoeing, wind surfing and water sports. The water visibility is excellent for snorkelers and divers.

Overlooking the beach is Clavell Tower, a Georgian folly built on the cliff edge. It’s quite a steep walk up to the folly but it is worth the effort as you are rewarded with spectacular views over the Bay.

The Etches Collection Museum is close by and worth a visit. It is a unique, modern museum of amazing fossils dating back 157 million years ago during the age of the dinosaurs.
