Happy National Travel Agents Day! 💜💚
People sometimes think being a travel agent means sitting at a computer booking holidays all day. In reality, I’d probably say the actual booking part is only around 20% of what I do.
The other 80% is what allows me to call myself a Professional Travel Expert.
It’s constantly researching destinations and hotels. Training and keeping up to date with an industry that changes every day. Attending supplier events, networking, joining webinars and Zoom meetings with hoteliers and tourist boards, visiting hotels, touring cruise ships and experiencing destinations first-hand whenever I get the opportunity.
It’s learning which hotel is brilliant for families, which resort is perfect for couples, which cruise ship will suit which customer, where to stay, what to avoid, what’s worth paying extra for — and sometimes knowing the little details you simply won’t find by scrolling through a booking website.
And then there’s everything that happens after you book. Checking the details, answering questions, helping with seats and luggage, entry requirements, special requests and all those little things that crop up between “Let’s book it!” and finally getting on that plane. ✈️
I invest a huge amount of time in learning, researching and building relationships within the travel industry because ultimately, the better informed I am, the better holidays I can create for my customers.
So today, on National Travel Agents Day, I’m celebrating this slightly crazy job that is definitely about far more than booking holidays — and saying a massive thank you to every single person who trusts me with theirs. 💜
Whether it’s your main family holiday, a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, a cruise, a weekend away or somewhere you’ve dreamed about for years, I never take for granted that you’ve chosen me to help make it happen.
Here’s to creating many more holidays and memories. 🌍✈️
