Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Ubud 🌿

Jungle views, lantern-lit terraces and an infinity pool that melts into the valley.

At Ambar we tried their special distilled water. It’s slow-dripped through botanicals and arrives in a curl of mist, and it was pure magic.

Dinner was so amazing I completely forgot to take photos, so you’ll just have to trust me on that one!

Capella Ubud is Bill Bensley’s fever dream of an 1800s explorers’ camp, and we mean that as the highest compliment. There are canvas tents full of curios, campaign chests, telescopes, and private saltwater pools, all hidden in the rainforest above the Wos River. Bensley famously refused to fell a single tree, so the camp weaves around the jungle like it’s been there for a century.

We spent an afternoon learning the art of kintsugi, where broken pottery is mended with gold.

It’s slow and careful work. The cracks aren’t hidden, they’re highlighted, so the history becomes part of the beauty. Our pieces are far from perfect, and that’s kind of the point.

Maybe the most beautiful philosophy we’re bringing home from Japan.

We love Japan for its culture, its history and its people… but if we’re honest, we really love Japan for the food. 🇯🇵✨
This time it was Italy meeting Tokyo at Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, tucked away on the top floor of Gucci’s Namiki flagship in Ginza. Picture Gucci-green interiors, a Michelin star, and dishes that only make sense in Tokyo.
