What a beautiful evening with a lovely group of ladies, all dedicated volunteers, at Stotfold Watermill Nature Reserve!
We loved their adventurous spirit, sense of humour, and deep affection for the reserve they have helped build, nurture, and care for over the past 20 and more years.
The reserve was pure magic, with its rich variety of habitats and an abundance of spiders, from small to impressively large, adding to the night's sense of wonder. Nature treated us to glowing fungi, blue and red plants, and hairy caterpillars! 🕷️ 🍄🟫
Against the backdrop of a stunning sunset, we were treated to an incredible display as 4 Noctule bats hunted in plain sight overhead. We paused for quite some time simply to enjoy their spectacular aerial performance. 🦇
Common and Soprano Pipistrelles also made fantastic appearances throughout the evening. No two walks are ever the same, but we hope the bats put on a similarly amazing show during our upcoming Sunday walk at the reserve!
