⭐ NEW YORK’S MUST-SEE ATTRACTIONS ⭐
New York has so much to see that it can be tempting to squeeze everything into one visit.
My advice is to choose the experiences that matter most to you, allow time to enjoy them properly and accept that New York will always give you a reason to return! ❤️
Here are some of the city’s most iconic attractions:
🗽 THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
One of the most recognisable landmarks in the world. You can visit Liberty Island, combine it with Ellis Island or admire the statue from a sightseeing cruise or ferry (We took a helicopter ride, it was amazing!)
🌳 CENTRAL PARK
Central Park is much bigger than many first-time visitors expect. You can walk, cycle, take a guided tour or simply find a peaceful spot away from the busy streets.
Highlights include Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, Strawberry Fields and The Mall
🏙️ EMPIRE STATE BUILDING
An essential part of the New York skyline. Its observation decks provide fantastic views across Manhattan, and the building is particularly atmospheric after dark.
🌆 ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY
Located at the top of One World Trade Center, this observation experience offers sweeping views over Manhattan, the rivers and New York Harbor.
🎭 A BROADWAY SHOW
Whether you love musicals, dramas or spectacular family productions, seeing a Broadway show is a memorable part of a New York holiday. We watched The Jersey Boys, it was fab!
Performances can sell out, so book early if there is a particular show you don’t want to miss. If you're not too bothered what you see, you just want to experience one while you're there, you will be able to get last minute tickets, don't worry.
🌉 BROOKLYN BRIDGE
Walking across Brooklyn Bridge is one of my favourite ways to see the city.
You’ll enjoy brilliant views of the Manhattan skyline, but it can get very busy. An early morning walk usually offers a calmer experience and better opportunities for photographs.
🕊️ THE 9/11 MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM
This is an incredibly moving place and deserves enough time to visit respectfully.
The Memorial Pools occupy the footprints of the former Twin Towers, while the museum shares personal stories, artefacts and the history of the attacks.
🦖 AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
A wonderful choice for families, history lovers and anyone fascinated by the natural world. It is enormous, so look at the museum map beforehand and decide which exhibits are most important to you.
🖼️ THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART
The Met contains art and artefacts from across thousands of years. You could spend an entire day inside, so don’t feel you need to see every gallery during one visit.
✨ TIMES SQUARE
Bright, loud, crowded and unmistakably New York!
It’s worth experiencing, especially after dark, but remember that there is much more to the city than Times Square.
💡 A LITTLE PLANNING TIP
Group nearby attractions together rather than travelling backwards and forwards across Manhattan (you'll definitely get your steps in while you're here!)
For example, you could combine Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue and Central Park, or visit the 9/11 Memorial, One World Observatory and the Financial District on the same day.
This will save valuable time—and your feet will thank you! 👟
