Exciting treasure hunts to explore villages and cities in Hertfordshire with a unique twist: all directions and clues are submitted via text message, you simply text back your answer! Currently operating in St Albans and Ware. Available 24/7 (although daylight is recommended!). Pre-booking is required via our website in order to get yourself set up and ready to receive your first clue, but there is unlimited availability and we can never be fully booked.

There are so many fun details to spot in Hertford, including this guy "the old verger".

The Verger's House on St Andrew's Street is from circa 1450 and is the oldest surviving dwelling in Hertford! And it's one of the most distinctive buildings around!!

"The Blue Coat Children" feature in three of our trails ... they most certainly make up a key part of this area's history!

The Bluecoat boys and girls were residents at the Christ Hospital (which was not, as many people believe, a private school).

The hospital was set up to care for homeless children, and was rare in that catered for both boys and girls.

The establishment was first set up in London, but The Plague necessitated the relocation to Hertford, Ware and Hoddesdon.

Place House in Ware was one of the homes used and still to this day you can see where girls and boys etched their names into the brickwork of the buildings.

Do the pretty twinkly lights and cosy fireside's in pubs make up for the nights closing in and wet dreary weekends?

This week there has definitely been a turn in the weather... it is coooold!! ❄️

Half term is over, the clocks have gone back, grey skies are looming, dark nights are coming, and we're all dreading receiving the first of those gloomy heating bills!! But Christmas is just around the corner!!

We're in a weird middle ground where it's not really autumn anymore, but also it's not quite winter yet. Do you love or hate this time of year?

Another five ⭐️ Google Review from a happy Text Trailer. I love getting such lovely feedback from groups and hearing how they got on on their day out.

This couple took part in the St Albans Text Trail as part of a Date Day, and got caught out in the torrential rain!!! But kudos to them, they laughed, powered on, and made the most of it!! 🌂

The St Albans Text Trail has really increased in popularity over the last couple of months (perhaps it just took a while to get off the ground? Who knows!!), but the questions are a little more challenging than some of our other routes.

Over the last week or so I've been struggling, like so many others, to really understand what has happened. We're both much more moved by the news than we expected to be, even though The Queen had never directly touched either of our lives.

So many people are saying she was a constant, and that all their lives they have never known anyone else on the throne - that saying of 'you don't miss it until it's gone' feels very true.
I think it's fair to say that over this past week a lot of people who had assumed she would always be there or suddenly left feeling confused.

Rest in peace Your Majesty: your legacy is unmatched, your unwavering sense of duty is inspirational, and everything that you did over the years will never be forgotten. 💜💛

We'd lived in St Albans for several years before we got around to making the St Albans Text Trail - we would regularly make trips into the town centre and felt like we knew the city really well.
But it was only once we started researching these clues that we really feel we uncovered some of the lesser known history!
