💛 Will be graduating from TVG Touring and Adventure Academy. A programme I've been deeply invested in this year to learn more about the touring and adventure sector and qualify as an expert. 👩‍🎓

💛 Am shortlisted for the Champion on Change Award. An absolute honour to not only be shortlisted for this particular award within the touring and adventure sector but also to be representing the Responsible Travel Advisors Collective and standing alongside two good friends and incredible sustainable travel advocates as well. 🏆

💛 Have been asked to speak on stage about my recent trip to Italy and explain how valuable these experiences are for agents, especially within the touring and adventure sector. I only found out about this yesterday and am so thrilled to have been asked to speak on such a large stage. My first time speaking at a conference was back in May at our Travel Village Group conference where I talked about our Doing Travel Better initiative. To say I am terrified to speak at ATAS is an understatement, but I wasn't going to turn down the opportunity just because of nerves. 👩‍🏫

Here's what it actually means when I do it. 🎯

I remember you hate early flights, so I don't book them. I know you'd rather stay somewhere quiet and central than save £50 a night on a hotel miles from anything, so that's where I put the itinerary. It gets built around how you actually travel - not a template with your name typed in at the top.

There are three ways to book the Tuscan cooking and w**e experience I've been sharing this week — here's the second 🍷🍝

Four nights based in a beautifully restored Tuscan apartment with its own kitchen and pool access, learning to cook traditional Italian and Tuscan dishes with Mirella (hello, hand-folded ravioli, a proper tiramisu and a panzanella salad) — and everything we cooked became that night's dinner. Since I got back from Italy and my inbox has genuinely not stopped 😅 Thank you to every single one of you who's enquired or booked recently - I promise I haven't forgotten you, I'm just making sure I give each enquiry the proper time it deserves rather than rushing it. Your patience means a lot.

Also had the loveliest time at a new business networking event in Stocksbridge yesterday - met some brilliant female business owners and already got a few collaboration ideas brewing 👀

In slightly less glamorous news, I'm having the patio done next week so my whole office is relocating to the dining room for a bit. Send desk space 😂

Let me tell you about where I actually stayed in Tuscany, because it wasn't your average hotel 🏡

I flew into Pisa ✈️ and took the train onward into Lunigiana, up in the north of Tuscany to the kind of village that still runs on its own time, well away from the coach-tour crowds.

Home for four nights was a 400-year-old palazzo 🏰 that once belonged to an Italian noble family, now beautifully restored into five individually styled apartments, each with their own kitchen and ensuite, plus a pool 🏊, garden lawns and mountain views 🏔️.

The village itself, Tavernelle, was tiny in the best way - a single street of 15th-century buildings, a 500-year-old fortified tower house, and sandstone arcades everywhere you look. We were able to look inside the 16th-century church of San Rocco ⛪, we met a local out foraging mushrooms 🍄, and on our final evening the village lights were switched on just for our group ✨ (usually only lit for the summer festival).

Genuinely one of my favourite travel moments in a long time. ❤️

We also had a day trip out to Cinque Terre 🌊 - wandering the coloured streets of Manarola with the sea right there, plus a w**e tasting 🍷 at a local Cantina.

I have to introduce you to two people who made my week in Tuscany 🍝🍷

Mirella is your chef for the week - she grew up around her family's own organic fruit, veg, olive oil and w**e in the Chianti hills, and cooks with herbs straight from her garden. She's a real believer in slow food (fresh, local, seasonal), and it comes through in everything she makes. The recipes are the ones her own family has cooked for generations. 🍝

Francesco is your sommelier - his father was a w**e producer in Chianti for over 50 years, and Francesco grew up in and around that cellar. He's now a qualified sommelier who makes his own w**e. One evening, while we were there, he opened a 2017 Chianti Classico he'd been saving for a special occasion, that I am still thinking about. 🍷

Between Mirella's cooking and Francesco's w**e, this pair give you a genuine window into local Tuscan life that you just won't get on a normal holiday.
