There isn’t one honest answer for everyone.

You need time to learn, research trips, prepare quotes, follow up and look after customers. More enquiries mean more work.

But you can plan that work around your circumstances.

Sofie, featured in our newsletter, started her travel business alongside a full-time local government job. I started mine as a full time CEO of a cyber crime company.

Other agents build around family life.

I wouldn’t promise you an income from ten spare minutes a day. I would help you look at the time you genuinely have and what you could realistically do with it.

Fair question. You should know before deciding.

The currently published travel-advisor fees are:

• £142 one-off enrolment
• £32 a month

Those are the travel-advisor fees. I’ll also explain any separate fees if you’re interested in the team-building side.

You should budget for any additional business spending you choose, too.

This is a business with ongoing costs, so I’d want you to understand what you’re paying for, how commission works and whether it fits your budget.

If money is already stretched, let’s talk honestly about that.

☀️ Sometimes the unexpected part is the people you meet.

Our latest travel team retreat brought 46 people together for three nights in Mallorca.

A catamaran trip. Tapas. W**e tasting. Training. Plenty of conversations and laughter.

I went along, and it reminded me how much I enjoy being around people who share ideas and encourage each other.

Amie, featured in our newsletter, also talks about the friendships and knowledge she’s gained through her travel business.

The work matters, of course. So does enjoying the people you’re doing it alongside. This is my roomie Nic!

Social events are an additional choice, rather than a requirement to build your business.

Who already asks you about holidays?

The friend who wants hotel recommendations.
The colleague organising a weekend away.
The family member who always asks you to research flights.

Those conversations could be your starting point.

Dean, featured in our latest team newsletter, had already been organising holidays for friends and family before joining. His existing connections helped him get going.

That doesn’t mean everyone you know will book with you.

It means you can begin with people who already know you, then build through good service, recommendations and useful travel content.

I wanted to travel more and make my money go further.

What I didn’t expect was to build a growing business with clients who come back and recommend me.

My latest quarterly figures?

✈️ £56,338 in travel booked
💷 £6,226 in commission reported

That’s commission before business costs and tax, and my results aren’t a promise of what someone else will earn.

But they show how far my little “let’s give this a try” has developed.

After 30 years in policing and a career as a CEO, I wanted something that fitted this next chapter of my life.

Tell people clearly what travel you can help with.

Share something useful: a destination tip, hotel comparison or your own travel experience. Heres my photos of the nicest hotel in Seville- gorgeous building but terrible slow service in the bar!

Ask for introductions to people who are planning a trip.

Give enquiries proper attention and follow up.

Ask happy clients for feedback and recommendations.

You can start without paying for adverts or having thousands of followers.

You do need consistency, patience and good service.

That’s how you begin building trust, one conversation at a time.
