The Government wants to abolish Healthwatch, including Healthwatch Lincolnshire.

That means the NHS and councils could end up handling scrutiny of their own performance.

In plain English, the organisations being complained about would also become the organisations collecting and interpreting the complaints.

That is not independent accountability. That is marking your own homework.

For years, Healthwatch Lincolnshire has given patients, carers and vulnerable residents an independent voice on issues like GP access, waiting times, mental health support and rural healthcare gaps.

Even Lincolnshire County Council’s own constitution formally builds Healthwatch into local scrutiny arrangements.

Cllr Sue Woolley, Conservatives’ NHS and Public Health spokesman, said:

“Patients need an independent voice that is prepared to challenge powerful organisations when services fall short. Independent challenge is not an inconvenience, it is part of accountability.”

Please read this and comment these are the only two respite facilities we have in the county and Lincolnshire County Council are planning to close them. We need as many objections as possible to keep this service open .

More time to share views on short breaks service!

We recently announced proposed changes to our short breaks and emergency respite services for working-age adults with learning disabilities, autism and physical disabilities, and their families and carers.

This would see services moved from their current location, Swallow Lodge in North Hykeham and Cedar House in Spalding, and instead delivered in other homes across the county that already provide high-quality residential and nursing care for working-age adults.

The council is in discussions to extend the current contract to keep Swallow Lodge and Cedar House open while that additional engagement takes place.

The proposals are designed to provide a better experience for families and would offer them greater choice, flexibility and care nearer to home.

We’re now giving people further time to share their views on the plans. Once the necessary arrangements have been made, we'll share further details on how people can take part. We'll ensure everyone using the services is contacted to make them aware.

I am sad to report there has been 2 areas of flooring cut with what can only be a knife from the flooring in the park. This is totally unacceptable behaviour and someone must have seen this happening as it would have taken a while to do. Please pm me if you know who is responsible!!! This is the smaller one below the second is 4 times the size !!!! I’m lost for words but also very worried someone is carrying a knife.
